Nexus 7: Issues with Chrome

Hey all,

Is anyone else who owns the N7 having issues with Chrome being slow and laggy? Which is odd because Chrome works really well on my laptop/desktop. Also, sometimes the keyboard and the UI goes unresponsive and locks up.

Are there any other applications for browsers you recommend? As I mainly use the N7 to browse and it seems like I may need to return this for something else with better browser capability.

Thanks

Chrome is laggy relative to Dolphin HD on our N7s and on my GS3. Chrome has some nice features (particularly its showing a blow-up of a small portion of the display if your finger taps more than one link, and sharing user info across platforms), but it's not quite there yet.

Give Dolphin a try.

everyone's Chrome working smoothly? I might need to restore it to factory settings, AGAIN. >.>

It's fine on my GS3, but on the N7 it's rather temperamental. I loaded Firefox and Dolphin to see if they behave better.

Maybe software resets might be required because chrome has been considerably smooth and fast on my Nexus 7. Bone stock no root. Don't know if hat might be vital information for you guys.

Chrome on android sucks right now, period. For me its just a convenience browser for tab sync, etc.

Chrome provides an awful end-user experience on the N7 on most websites. Some are OK, but most are choppy (janky) when you scroll. Also noticed significant keyboard lag, especially on pages that make ajax requests for auto-complete etc. Can't type quickly and confidently. Wish I had the same browser that's on my Galaxy Nexus.

I'm alternating between xScope and Dolphin at the moment, but each of these has problems too (delay between time you move your finger and the page moving). They're both still much better than Chrome.

For me, the only let-down on the N7 is the browsing experience (and the odd flicker here and there).

I was definetly expecting more. I have experienced both the flicker and the keyboard unresponsiveness.

Yes. It's slow and laggy for me as well. Some people love it.
As for me, it's the worst browser on my Nexus device.
I can't even use it on the mobile version of nba.com
Clicking on the Scores and Schedules, and Standings links at the bottom of the page does nothing.
I mostly use Bolt Browser and Puffin Browser.

1st thing I did after downloading Dolphin was to use root uninstaller to get rid of that Chrome POS. If the browser is so bad, certainly wouldn't want any devices base on ChromeOS.

Strange because I am experiencing just the opposite, as I find Dolphin Browser lagging and slow on my N7, while Chrome seems to be much faster and snappier!

I couldn't customize chrome so I went with dolphin. Its much more user friendly.

Chrome seems to get progressively worse with its updates as far as lag. I uninstall all updates in settings/apps and there's hardly any lag. Reinstall the updates and lag is back. Sucks, I love all the sync features and the zoom when selecting buttons that are close together. But the lag is to horrible. Liking Firefox though. The fonts and image rendering seem much nicer.

I gave up on Chrome a while ago on my Nexus 7. Personally, I favor Firefox as an alternative, but I haven't tried Dolphin, which seems to be pretty popular here...
