Nexus 7 LTE support for Indian 4G networks

Hi All,

I tired of find answers to the following questions.

1) How do i know about frequencies supported by My Nexus 7. Why i am asking is because there are 2 versions of LTE editions on is North India Version another is Europe Version. So, to which region my nexus 7 belongs to ? Any link appreciated.

2) If 4G network in a country is supported by nexus 7, will Google plan for an update to support that network.

3) If there is no supported 4G network for that region, why Google is selling in that area ? (This one is for Google)

PS: My Network frequency is 2300MHz TDD- LTE Network. Carrier is Airtel. And it will always connect to HSPA. The reason is simple, that frequency is not supporting by Nexus 7.

I am posting this thread because it will help so many people in future.

I don't see any mention of 2300 frequency support in either the North America/Japan or rest of the world versions - looks like you won't be getting LTE.

Thanks for Reply. If it is not supporting Indian LTE Network, will there be any update to support TD LTE ? I saw same where That google released a software update to support verizon LTE network ,Or may be I need to wait till some other carrier comes with LTE that supports Nexus 7.

In India till now there is only on network (Airtel )exists that support LTE.

I am by no means an expert in this area - I only know enough to be dangerous. But it seems to me that it's never going to work - the frequencies supported by the hardware aren't going to change, regardless of software updates. And I doubt very much that the frequency that your carrier supports is going to change. So it's just not going to work - period. Sorry.

The Nexus 7 supported Verizon 4GLTE from the get go. If there isn't hardware support then not much you can do about it.

The Nexus 7 was working on Verizon before the update, as the article pointed out. Google has to make some change to make the nexus 7 meet Verizon's certification requirements. Basically before the update, Verizon allowed it on their network, but didn't officially support it.

Unlike other countries in the US a carrier can say they will not support a device. If they do decide to support a device they require the device meet their certification test before the device is allowed on their network. So supporting the frequencies is not sufficient. The device must also work well/nice within the carrier's system. This ability of the carriers to prevent devices from working on their networks is one of the reason the US does not have a lot of phones that other countries do.

GSM carriers allow all devices on their network by default unless a specific device is causing a problem.

Even Verizon allowed the nexus 7 to operate on their network before certification. They won't officially support an un certified device though, which is what happened to the Nexus 7
