Nexus 7 reset

My wife bought nexus 7 set it up and that was the only time she used that email now can't remember what it was and our 4 year old got a hold of it and she can't get it open. Tried the reset and after I hit reboot instead of going to red triangle it just shows the word google can any body help ?? Thanks

I haven't had to reset myself but am pretty sure I read on here a while ago that you need to connect the Nexus 7 to your PC or laptop via the USB cable and then reset. Maybe worth doing a search on here for resetting.

Hold down the power button and volume down button at same time. This should cause it to boot into boot mode. Using the volume keys to pick a choice and choice reboot. Once it is on hold down power key to power off the device properly.

You can try also choosing Safe Mode and go that route. I have not tried it but read it in the forums.
