Who honestly tries 20 devices before frustration causes them to give up on that device? No one. If you've had twenty defective units, do all of us a favor and buy something else. If you love the size, there's other 7" tablets out there.

This device suffers from backlight bleed, screen lift, horizontal line artifacts, and other issues.

OK so I think I'm done with this device. I've gone through 10 now and I really think Google owes me and others for having to exercise quality control for them. Heres the lowdown.

1st: I threw in a tire fire and it MELTED! Can you believe that? So shoddy.
2nd: I put it in my dogs cage for a week, and the screen suffers from MAJOR scratches and horrible battery life. Had to send that one back.
3rd: I went scuba diving, and could not for the life of my get gps to work underwater.
4th: I threw it as hard as I could, and it wouldn't come back to me. My boomerang is much more accurate. Design Flaw!!
5th: I dragged behind my car tied to a string and it completely shattered. Once again, SHODDY!
6th: I took apart, spit in it, rubbed it all around vigorously with my finger and then it wouldn't even start!?
7th: I was playing angry birds and one of the birds flew OVER the pigs. Obviously a glitch in the device, had to send that one back.
8th: It suffered from MAJOR touchscreen issues, after hitting with a hammer a few times.
9th: The backing has HORRIBLE grip, I was taking a picture of myself on the can and it fell into the toilet, it wouldn't start up even after flushing several times.
10: The glass separation was atrocious after I pulled the glass from the device.

I, for one would like to apologize for insinuating that you were a liar. You must truly have incredibly bad luck. Like cosmically bad luck. The chances of getting 10 bad units are mind-blowing low. I've bought two and neither have any issues.

Like some others, I would like to thank you for your sacrifice of taking all the bad ones and leaving the good ones for us.

Assuming the defective N7s are clustered together, then if blackberrymamba got all 10 from the same batch the odds really aren't that high. In other words, if he/she is buying/replacing them 3-4 at a time it is plausible to get this result due to a bad batch.

Possible. But it can also be a tell tale sign of a quality control problem which extends to all devices regardless of batch.

Look the tablet is amazing. It's genius in the palm of your hand really. I think Asus and Google came up with a stellar product. Maybe I might be quibbling over issues, or maybe as a consumer I demand a good quality product...not something that would be considered passable and unnoticeable to the majority. Or maybe I've been unlucky which to me...isn't logical since I've gone through 10. Not trying to trash the tablet and say it is junk. It's good but it has issues that need to be worked out.

Whatever the case may be, I liked this product enough to try my luck at 10 tablets. No normal person would do this, but someone who really liked the device would try it. That was my issue. I liked this device that I thought ok, I just got a bad one, and hoped to get a good one. So return, then another bad one. And so began the cycle of exchanging and returning...then buying 4 at a time, etc.

I kept one out of the last batch of 4 and even decided to live with the little backlight bleed, only to find out that the screen would flicker when I would get a low wifi signal, and weird horizontal line pop up. Guess what I'm still debating on returning it despite those defects. That's how good this tablet is...but ultimately I know I won't be happy with three total defects that are noticeable to me. So I will be returning the 10th one soon.

10 replacements would cause a company to simply promote you to a spectator. At that rate with only 30 days of release, you would become a money pit that cannot be made happy. Easier to refund you and wish you well.

I have had no issues at all with the 3 my family owns. Sorry for your bad luck.

How exactly are you defining light bleed? No LCD will have perfect blacks, that's just the nature of the tech, some light will come through the black pixels, that in itself does not mean it is defective. You might say more light comes though at the edges, and maybe it does at the very edges, but if I look at the edge dead on I can't notice it, I only notice it when the screen is at an angle. I certainly don't consider the LCD to be defective. I will admit my Nexus 7 isn't perfect, it does have a very slight screen lift issue on the left side, but it is minor enough not to bother me so I decided to stick with the one I've got and I'll only send it back if it gets worse.

Google must be confirming that the Google play returns do have problems or else people would not return so many after being charged on that hold they put on your card. If they find there isn't something wrong they charge you is what it says. But probably don't enforce it maybe.

I've not seen a single picture of a device that actually has backlight bleeding. Not one. What I HAVE seen are dozens of people claiming their device has backlight bleed because they don't have a clue how a backlit LCD screen is supposed to look...i. e. blacks are a dark grey, and NOT the true black seen on an AMOLED screen. My guess is that part of this is due to the large number of GNex and SGS3 users that have picked up this tablet..they are used to seeing AMOLED everyday. They see the screen is lighter on a black background (and maybe slightly more so over the LED backlights themselves), and they think the device is defective. It isn't. Or the vast majority aren't. That's why it was never spotted by the dozens, maybe even hundreds, of professional reviews that look at tech for a living.

If your device has backlight bleeding issues, please post pics. I've had four N7's pass through my hands, and not one has had the slightest issue in this regard. Since you claim to have had 10 defective devices, I'd assume you have pics of at least one problem of this kind.

GT2 7" is a seriously, SERIOUSLY inferior tab. Just warning you, you may regret it before too long. And the majority of people aren't having build issues. The reviewer and Amazon rating of the N7 is higher by far than GT2 7" which tells you that most people are getting devices that are perfectly fine.

But if I got 2 that were bad, and took them back, I would open the new ones before I left the store. Why is it that hard to do? Its its good, buy it. If its bad, try again, open every one in the store and let them deal with it right then and there instead of taking returns.the store would be smart enough top let you. But you don't seem smart enough to do that. Instead, You want to get them all home Them find out its bad?
I bought 2 from the play store, opened 1 and its perfectly fine. The other one is still unopened, and I might keep it that way just to spite these guys that bought 10 and 20 and the conspiracy is that they will only get bad product and never see a good one.

Wow, that's some serious light bleed. If mine had that, then I would return it. I have a little screen lift on the left side, but I really had to look for it. If it weren't for the screen lift posts, I would never have noticed.

I have decided to not actively look for defects so I can enjoy "My Nexus 7 Tablet."
