Nexus 9 Android 5.1.1 OTA update starting today!

Downloaded OTA file. Got USB debug enabled, allowed my computer forever. While 5.0.2 is running ADB finds the device and all is well. When I get to recovery my device is not found. Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Did you check the little box to remember that you authorized your computer for adb access? Also, adb in recovery is a different driver. If you use wugfresh toolkit it walks you through fixing it. Something like control panel, device manager, find yellow exclamation mark, update driver, select from computer.

Got it, thanks, installing OTA now. Needed second driver, then a later version adb, but now all is well.

Thank you.

I just got a notification to get the OTA. States 'waiting to download' and no sort of button or anything else I can do. Wonder how long I have to wait for and candidly, why I am waiting?

**EDIT - About 5 minutes after posting this is changed to Downloading** Fingers crossed I have no issues.

Tried sideloading the OTA on my stock N9 on Monday, but it repeatedly failed during the verification stage with ""system partition has unexpected contents - E:Error in /sideload/package.zip - (Status 7)." Figured I would wait until the OTA arrived through the system update. That showed up this morning. Downloaded it, restarted my N9, and then watched it fail with a dead Android and red exclamation point. Reset it and it runs fine but says that it still is 5.0.2 and that the system is up to date.

Ugh.

Just received notification that 5.1.1 was downloaded and did I want to update. I did and everything worked perfectly. It does appear faster. Will now wait and see.

After second attemtp to update through system update, failed again with "system partition has unexpected contents - E:Error in / cache/recovery/block[dot]map - (Status 7)"

Much snappier, less lag at times. Overall I didn't have much in the way of issues to begin with that others complained about. However, thus far, in the few hours I have played with it, it does seem more responsive. AnTuTu benchmark comes back at 59907. So, thats a good thing.

I just got in from work, powdered up my N9 & bam!! Update Downloading!!!! Being lazy does pay off sometimes ;)

I know it will be painful, but you might try a factory reset before trying again.

Yes, but you have the satisfaction of knowing you have a pristine clean install. It's all reformatted for the best possible experience.

Did a complete factory reset from the recovery menu and waiting for the OTA system update. Failed again with same error message.

Going to try flashing the image instead.

Tried to update OTA on stock, uprooted software. Got an error during update (got a laying down, Lloyd with red warning triangle and just the word "Error"). It restarted itself but was so slow and buggy that I tried to restart it. Now it won't even boot. Just gets stuck on the loading animation. Any ideas?

Having issues here with sideloading the OTA update.

1) Tablet bootloader was locked. Tried sideloading with Wug's and also through adb. Get this error during verifying current system:
system partition has unexpected contents
E:Error in /sideload/package.zip
(Status 7)
Tablet is not rooted but thought maybe I modified something I can't recall.

2) Went ahead and unlocked bootloader, which wiped the tablet clean. Tried sideloading again with Wug and adb. Same freakin' error.

3) Wiped the tablet AGAIN in recovery, and tried sideloading with Wug and adb again. Guess what? Same error.

I'm thinking I am forgetting something really simple but right now, I am clueless as to what the issue is. Downloaded the OTA file twice to be sure the first download wasn't corrupt. Anyone have any ideas?

Got tired of trying the OTA and trued flashing the 5.1.1 stock image with Wug's. Got an error that the update package was missing system.img (I think). Rebooted the tablet and left it for a while.

Came back to the tablet and had notification of the 5.1.1 update. Restarted the tablet to install the actual ota and did some other stuff while it was doing its thing. Came back to it a few minutes later and the tablet was on the home screen. Checked the version and I'm still on 5.0.2. Checked for an update and now it says my system is up to date. WTF??
