My GNex was acting up today, rebooting over 15 times, so I went to restore a Nandroid backup. That failed, I got an error that the data couldn't be restored, so I used the settings menu to do a factory reset. That didn't work, everything was just as I left it, all my apps were there like nothing had happened. So I used the settings menu again to reset and nothing happened again.

I used CWM to do a reset and I have been in a bootloop for 20 minutes.

Pulled the battery and I can select get into Recovery Mode, and get into CWM.

Any ideas what to do at this point?

Edit: Tried to restore the Nandroid backup again and got the same error: "Error while restoring /data"

Interesting. Do you have the zip of the rom/gapps on your phone? No zips? You've tried wiping everything right?

i would go grab a copy of a stock ROM at this point and try to push it to the device with ADB

Did you rename the nandroid backup that you're trying to restore to? I remember reading once that you're not supposed to put some characters into a renamed nandroid backup (maybe spaces, maybe periods, I can't recall what it was you were NOT supposed to use when renaming). Anyway, if you did rename it, try putting it back to it's original name.

Your not suppose to put any spaces between the numbers or letters, If you rename your backup.
I think you can put periods(.) between the numbers or letters
I know you can put underscore characters(_)tho between the numbers or letters.

Interesting. I've deleted some of the characters of my nandroid backups an added in my own and never had a problem.

Example.

Original file name was 2012-02-06-08-48-13 (which would be the date/time I made the backup)

I renamed it to: 2012-02-06-AOKP-Baseline

Renaming is OK as long as you don't use any characters that CWM doesn't object to. I think spaces are the big no no.

Honestly sounds kind of similar to the situation I had last week.. Phone just went berzerk on me and I had to do a full factory image restore, but now everything is running great. I did everything from this page: http://www.droid-life.com/2011/12/1...the-bootloader-and-return-to-a-factory-state/

Followed the instructions exactly, even relocking the bootloader, then unlocking it to complete the wiping/restoring. Worked like a charm though, now my phone is running great and letting me flash like normal again. If you're able to get into a backup you can grab the things your want/need off your sd card before you go through the process, because it will completely wipe everything, sd included.

I was able to get with some help, and thanks guys for chiming in. I had to go and install fastboot, and put the files that I needed in the /tools folder, not the /platform tools folder.
Once I figured that out, it wasn't too bad, but I did have to go and push everything back and did everything short of locking the phone back up.

Learned a TON though and it wasn't too bad on the Mac.

I actually had this same thing. I had to flash back to factory. Erased internal memory and everything.
