Nexus, or wait for Tegra3?

I'm trying to figure if I should get a Nexus next month, or hold out a bit for the new Tegra3 phones after the first of the year.

One of my main concerns is battery life. I've heard iffy things about the battery life on the nexus. The Tegra3 line is known for better performance, as well as being much more efficient on cpu as well as screen power. I'm thinking the wait for Tegra3 may be worth it. They'll have native ICS support too.

I'm currently on a droidx, and it's giving me fits. I may not be able to hold out for the Tegra3 phones.

Will the further wait be worth it?

Verizon has a crazy long return period right now, so you could try out the Nexus. If you don't like it, return it before the return period is over, then hang out for the Tegra 3 devices to start hitting.

Problem is, when will the Tegra3 phones actually hit? I don't want to have to go back to my droidx to wait for a Tegra3 phone after using the nexus.

With the quad-core Samsung Exynos 4412 Soc coming out soon, I won't settle for any other chipset than that. When it comes to processors, you can't beat Exynos. That thing is gonna be a BEAST!

Meh

April or may.

Battery life on the 4460 is going to be better than the tegra 3.

i'd say if you are waiting might as well wait for the quad core exynos from samsung. That still seems to be performing with all these higher clocked chips and can only imagine how well it will perform with quad core.

on verizon I would not think any sooner than may. Verizon always seems to be the last to get the new phones.

Razr, Rezound, Nexus...Verizon's last to get the new phones?

Rezound is same as evo 3d/sensation which was out months ago, razr is nothing special. Clearly you haven't been with verizon long. Last to get original sgs, the thunderbolt was pretty much a rebranded evo months later just to name a few.

Not necessarily. The tegra 3 has a 5th companion core that's supposed to help out with low power tasks. Yet to be seen how effective it'll be though

I've heard Tegra is terrible. All hype and benchmarks with low real world performance. Maybe I'm getting it confused with something else but I'm sure the GN will be great.

Tegra 3 is only good for tablets. On phones its going to be a battery killing waste of time.

Wrong on all counts. The rezounds hardware is very different than the 3d/sensation. The razr is the thinnest device on the planet and still packs in lte. Haters gonna hate, but at least don't be stupid about it.

what is different in rezound? Same processor, just rezound has a better screen. Please I am no hater just have to be honest with yourself. But anyway haters gonna hate. smh

I'm not too sure about people saying the battery life will be better on the OMAP. The tegra 3 has a dedicated core for unless threads so it really has 5 cores!! with 4 in sleep mode 90% of the time.

OP: just remember, if you wait for those tegra 3 phones, when theyre getting ready to come out, there will be something even bigger and badder just a couple of months away, and if you wait for the next, next thing, there will be something even awesomer after that. such is the way advancements in mobile work; that awesome device you just bought becomes "outdated" (term used very loosely) just a few months later. whats inportant is to buy a device that you enjoy using, and think you will continue using for the next 21 months.
