Nexus wont switch back automatically to 4G

For some reason when my GN goes into 3G mode because of a 4G dead spot, it never automatically goes back into 4G when i get to a 4G hotspot. I have to turn off and then on the phone again to get back into 4G. Even cycling it by turning off data, or putting in airplane mode doesnt help it swtich back. Anybody else experience this?
