Hi,

i am a newbie to Android / Nexus 7.
Before i get familiar with it i was asked to upgraded to 4.2.

and now it keep rebooting, even in safe mode.
i tried to reset to factory setting, during the set-up, it REBOOT itself as well.

Any idea how to get it back to normal?

Thanks!

Same thing is happening here, dont know what it is, I'm running Android 4.2 Stock, rooted and unlocked. My nexus 7 keeps rebooting at 42 %. When it shuts-off I immediately connected the tablet to its charger and it brings me the white battery icon. So I power back up the tablet and it shows 42% but as soon I disconnect it from the charger, like a minute later it just shuts off again. I been on Paranoid android rom for weeks and never had this problem. Anyone know what might be the problem?

hmm i am actually from HK. so i called Asus HK, they just asked me to do another hard reset.
it will rebook after several steps.

think will have to bring the tab to their repair centre to check.

Anyone might know what was the problem?
Thanks.

I don't know the cause of the problem, but a similar thing happens to me. Most of the time I'd be on YouTube and it just freezes and reboots. Recently, when it reboots, I would hear these noises coming from the inside. Is my Nexus 7 dying? :(

Sorry about that, Christine. Knowing that this forum gets a worldwide audience, I almost wrote in my post about contacting Google, "Assuming you are in the USA...". But I got a little lazy! Anyway, you did the right thing. I'm sure the service center will get it fixed for you.

But before you take it there, try a hard reset:

The following is from http://gametipcenter.com/how-to-hard-reset-the-google-nexus-7-tablet :
1. Turn off the device if it is turned on, and connect it via USB cable to your computer
2. Press and hold the Volume Up/Volume Down, and the Power Button at the same time for about three to four seconds to turn the device on, if done correctly you?ll see an Android lying on its back. This may prompt a driver installation on your computer, so let that driver install before you proceed if so. If you need the driver, download my zipped copy here. Go to file and download the entire zip file, unzip it to a folder, and point the installer to that folder.
3. Use the volume buttons to navigate to the Recovery Mode option, and press the Power Button to confirm your choice
4. The device will restart, and after a few minutes the device should boot to a screen showing an Android with a red triangle, press and hold the Power Button and Volume Up on this screen for about two seconds and let go to make the menu options appear
5. Use the volume buttons to navigate to Wipe Data / Factory Reset and press the Power Button to confirm your choice
6. Use the volume buttons to navigate to Yes and press the Power Button to confirm your choice

Here is a YouTube video showing a hard reset without attaching to your computer:

Good luck!

Appreciated your help MJKearney!
i did try to hard reset following your method, it will still rebook itself every 20-30sec...

i will check out the service centre coming monday and see if i get get a solution for the fellows having same trouble here.

*side note: in HK resource for android / nexus7 is pretty narrow.
i love the sound of android, it just people around me are Apple "Geek" and i am not very technical kind of person.
Happy to find out this forum and hope to get the best our of my little gadget, once it is fixed !

Cheers,
Christine

I had that problem and found that if I took the tablet out of the after-market iBlason cover (with magnet) that the reset problem went away. Still have the auto brightness over sensitive flickering issue, but the resets stopped. When I put the cover back on the reset problem begins again. Very annoying.

okay, so i did another hard reset.
finally it is working properly...at home.
But once i get back to office, it keeps rebooting itself again.

after a few testing, it seems it was the wifi from my office causing the reboot. it is normal again when i switch off the wifi / or connect to my pocket wifi.

any idea how could that be?
Thanks!

Wow, very strange - WiFi goblins! Before taking it back to the office (which in my imagination is in one of those really cool downtown Hong Kong skyscrapers), go to the WiFi settings and tell the N7 to forget that network. Long press on that network, then choose "Forget network". Then when you take it to the office again, set it up one more time. There are also advanced options available when entering the password (check the advanced settings box). This brings up the proxy settings and IP settings options. Maybe changing these settings will make a difference. Maybe not! Just a thought. Otherwise, maybe ask the IT people at your office (if any) for their ideas. :)

that happened to me!!!!!!! I'm on 4.2 of jelly bean and I was on YouTube and if froze and I started hearing noises coming from the inside!!! How can we fix this?
