They did. on the Galaxy S4 with AT&T, IIRC, and it failed miserably as most people like the TouchWiz overlay and features or,do not give a darn and do not know the difference between pure Android and TouchWiz. Besides, you can always root your phone and flash the pure Android CM ROM.... or buy a Nexus phone.
