No Google Wallet?

Just got my 64gb DE. I set it up without a SIM and it never asked me for carrier info. I got it on a wifi network and searched for Google Wallet in the play store and didn't get any results that matched "Google Wallet". WTF?

So I search for it via the web on my laptop and see this? Huh?

My guess is that it just hasn't been approved by Google yet. It'll come.... unless you're on AT&T. In that case, fly to Salt Lake and use Isis.

I'm pretty sure google needs to update the app to add the One the approved device list. I was bummed it didn't work on my Sprint version also. Hopefully we'll get an update soon

Ugh, OK. So I just activate with AT&T and wait to see if I can get wallet after that, even though I have the DE. Great.

Anyone try editing the build.prop with root explorer or the like?

The Note 2 had issues with wallet, and they figured out changing the build prop to make the device think it's a GNex would allow you to sideload/install/setup wallet. After it was all set you change the build.prop back to whatever settings they are for the One and try to use it.

I live in Salt Lake and it doesn't even work. The HTC One is still not a supported device.

I'm a Sprint Product Ambassador supporting the launch of the One. We do not block the Google Wallet app though we have also tested and found that it is not working on the One (unsupported in Play as others in this string have indicated). That's a Google Wallet support question on when they'll be adding this device to be functional with GW..

Anyone actually try the build prop thing yet?

So why have you guys not done anything about it? Did you bring it to Google's attention or is the job of the general public who subscribe to sprint service?

Why does att block Google wallet? I can't imagine how it would cost them anything so what gives?

AT&T does business with Isis, which is a direct competitor with Google wallet. The easiest way for AT&T to help Isis is to block their competition.
I could understand this a lot better if Isis was fully operational. That and if I had any idea who they are (which is why I wouldn't trust them with my money). Seeing as they are deployed in two markets worldwide and GW is all over the world makes this just another thorny carrier restriction. Also, Google Wallet is supported by many American national chains which include 7/11, Toys R Us, McDonald's and tons of online merchants. To the best of my knowledge Isis has no such support from actual retail businesses or restaurants.

TLDR: AT&T and Isis are huggy buddies and don't like Google Wallet.

IMO this should be illegal. If the two business were in a B&M store next to each other there is no way ATT could put a fence around or block you from going to the other store. It would be like selling me a pair of shoes and telling me I can't go to the store next door to buy shoe laces because I bought the shoes at their store.

I know that we all sign contracts to use these phones. I also know a lot of what they put in those contracts are illegal. Much like Microsoft telling you you can't put an OS you paid for on another system if you remove it from the first system. It's not illegal even if you agree to that when installing. Due to technology now they can still make it impossible for you to do and good luck suing for that right.

Once ISIS is fully deployed, the terminals will take ISIS or Google Wallet. The terminals are Mastercard PayPass and will take either. ISIS is testing in Austin right now and the terminals are all over the place and I have used Google Wallet on my Nexus 4 at many of them.

I've used wallet as well. The issue is that I simply have no reason to trust Isis with my money. On the other hand, if Google wanted my money, they already have enough information on everyone in these forums to steal our identities. I already trust them with so much it's not a big step to use them as my payment service.

The only way to get Google Wallet on ATT, TMO or Verizon is to root and edit the code in a few files or to load a Custom ROM which has Google Wallet baked in. Those three carriers are part of the ISIS group which is a competing NFC payment system that they are field testing now in Austin, TX and Salt Lake City. The carriers have locked down the secure element which you need for Google Wallet to work. Outside of an Unlocked GSM Nexus or a Sprint phone with GW on it, there will be be Google Wallet on a stock carrier phone for the three carriers mentioned above.

This has been an ongoing issue for a few years, since NFC phones and Google Wallet hit the market.
That isn't the issue here. I tried to install Wllet on my device before it ever touched an AT&T network. The Play Store states that it isn't supported on the HTC One yet.

Google play knows which device is which by the data in the build.prop. Data in that file is different for each carrier version of the handset. The handset does not need to authenticate with AT&T's network to know it is an AT&T device.

It isn't an AT&T device, it's a fully unlocked developer edition. This device was not associated with AT&T in any way before I tried to download Google Wallet. Visiting the Play Store on my laptop showed that the app isn't supported on the HTC One.
