No matter what, compunter will not recognize HTC One M8

Like I said, my PC will not recognize my HTC One M8, no matter what I do.

Yes, I have a genuine USB cable plugged directly into the computer.

Yes, I have uninstalled, reinstalled, restarted, uninstalled, reinstalled HTC Sync, Androus Studio, everything.

Yes, I have uninstalled, reinstalled, restarted, uninstalled, reinstalled HTCDriver_4.2.0.001, HTC_BMP_USB_Driver_x64_1.0.5375, everything.

I have tried every bit of advice...but no matter what, my computer cannot find any drivers for my phone, I just get red Xs.

Running Windows 7 ultimate edition, 64 bit. Everything else works on USB, and my HTC Evo appeared just fine on here. It's just this phone. What am I missing here?

Have you tried multiple different USB cables? Cables can fail.

The microUSB port can also become faulty, so you ultimately might have to bring the phone to a repair shop and see if the port needs to be replaced. Have you tried connecting the phone to any other computers?

I do know for a fact that HTC Device Manager doesnt work at all on Windows 8, or at least since the last time I tried. (5 months ago?) Look around if it's supposed to work on Windows 7, and look to see if you can sort of 'reboot' your phone, in the same sense you do to an SD card when you try to use it on Windows and then on Linux, or another OS.

I have exactly the same problem. Mine stopped working after the lollipop update.

I have tried several cables, PC's, laptops, driver updates, forum walkthroughs...nothing works.

Windows 7, Home Edition. HTC One M8

I had similar problem with M8, realized USB connection setting was "Just Charge".
Fix: SETTINGS => MORE => USB connection => File Transfers.
Hope this helps!
