I've got a Verizon s3 i 535 running on straight talk using AT&T network. I can I get my mobile data or MMS messaging to work for the life of me. I've tried multiple APN. I've tried changing them using the APN manager app. I cannot get any data whatsoever. I've tried doing a custom ROM and I still can't get it to work. Somebody please help!

You'd get better responses if this post was in the top level forum - this has nothing to do with rooting anyway.

Who told you that you could get a Verizon (CDMA) phone to work on an AT&T (GSM) network?

Its working, just no data. The i535 is a GLOBAL phone, which means it has both cdma and gsm radios

There's s way to do it but you needed root and a rom that allows apn settings. I don't think you'll get 4g or even 3g in the states. There was a thread on xda on how to do it.

yes you can do it you need APN Manager Pro and Titanium Backup Pro set your APN Manager Pro in titanium pro to system app then put the AT&T straight talk sim card APN settings into the APN manager should work for you and yes this has a lot to do with rootingI would appreciate it if you let me know how it works good luck

this does to have to do with rooting for the yes you can too do it and Yes it does have gsmfor you know it alls you don't know what you're talking about using one every day works perfect!!!!!here are the steps!!*Join Date: Aug 2006Location: Nord RomaniaAge: 32Posts: 109*Member: 323481*Status:*OfflineThanks Meter: 14Unlock Verizon Galaxy S3 i535 as World GSM Phone - simplified method1.You need to root your phone if you want to have data conections if not skip this step. How to root instructions you have here:*[GUIDE] For beginners - Root Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 SCH-i535/d2vzw - xda-developers2.From Google Play store install the following apps if you do not have them: APN Manager Pro (81 Square), Phone Info (sc@taiwan), Titanium Backup Pro.*3 Turn off phone, pull out battery and put in micro SIM from your foreign country.4. Use Phone Info app to change preferred network type "Global" or "Gsm only" (click on Device Information and scroll down to the first box to change). Some have reported that other choices were needed for their providers, so you may have to experiment.5. Reboot phone. You should have the SIM card working for phone calls.6. In Titanium Backup Pro, go to Backup/Restore, find and “long select” APN Manager Pro, and then select “Convert to system app”.7. Open APN Manager Pro, select Insert APN, and input the data needed from your desired service provider.*8. Reboot phone. You should have the SIM card working for phone and data.9. Remove notification*"NON-VERIZON SIM" :*Using Titanium Backup, delete(uninstall) or freeze an app called Setup wizard 1.0 (its icon is a red check mark with a magic wand) and that should remove the notification10. Enjoy.*

You're stuck on edge as the Verizon GS3 doesn't have the support for anything faster on the US GSM networks. Some of the newer verizon phones like the GS4 apparently support the faster speeds though.

I am trying to buy a phone with in my price range. I am in a Verizon and At&t area but At&t is kinda patchy. I am trying to set this up for my sister who is more into having Voice signal instead of data. She does text but mostly does her stuff on the computer at home. Anyways She has a phone with Verizon tower through straight talk, and whats to update her phone. She wants to buy something so if things change she don't have to run and get another phone to update to the speed tower's ect. She has been looking at the Samsung galaxy S3 for a while but can't decide cause your only limited to 15 to 30 days for returning the phone. She really like the Verizon service. They have the Straight talk Version (Verizon) SCH-S968C..( SCH-S968MBBTFN) wal mart! also they have the T-Mobile but would need the be programmed for At&t..Then there is the SCH-i535 (Verizon) She now has the Samsung Galaxy Proclaim and is happy with the service but wants most gadgets on the phone part. Can you help and give some advise on which to get.

Welcome to the forums!

If she's happy with the Straight Talk service then her best bet would be to get the Straight version of the phone - from what I've read she'll get better speeds and it'll be less hassle.

But if for some reason she decides to switch carriers then she's pretty much stuck; if that's a possibility then a more generic phone (Moto X) would be a better bet. Just my opinions - I don't have Straight Talk.
