No need to move to the LG Nexus

I like that google wants to keep the same form and design, makes a good branding. I hope motorola does this too with the same body style for their nexus. But we need more than 8gb internal mem, and a pullout battery. At least moto will have an sd slot, or it'd be the first moto phone without one.

When the chromebook came out with only 16gb storage, people were saying it is because google is pushing GDrive really hard and wants to make it mainstream.I have a 32gb Nexus and also have the 100 gb drive account. I don't think you have to sacrifice memory in phones because of pushing drive for more users. At least add an sd slot and let me buy the memory if you are trying to keep cost down to make phones cheaper, that's what they also said that it was to keep cost down too.

I just Hope the samsung GN2 will be improved upon with better volumes, antenna, camera, bigger battery, better processor and 2gb ram. Hope moto will do the same, their new screens for the HD maxx looks nice, and hopefully htc can do the same too. With Moto Samsung HTC and allegedly Sony, one of them will have to be LTE, for sprint and Verizon, prob moto and sammy.

I say that one of the problems of owning the gnex is that it really is a spoiler......what is out there that is so much better that it makes you want to run out and drop $650+ to own it? Maybe if the new LG/*brand nexus had radios that picked up signals in the middle of a cave deep inside Mt Kilimanjaro it would be worth considering, but outside of that: meh!!

The next nexus should be built and spec'd like the gs3.

Killer hardware and pure Google.

Complete with removable battery and sd card.

Android should move forward, not backwards.

See, I have a verizon nexus for which I have had not one single issue with. No dropped calls, random reboots, nothing. The absolute best experience I have ever had with a device. Maybe I just got lucky, but I don't even rely on verizon anymore for any updates whatsoever. I handle them myself. Again, maybe I'm just lucky. Also am running 4.1.2 with the verizon binaries for the nexus.

Please just stop. I know many die hards were upset with VZW's handling of the galaxy nexus, but for those of us who have little choice if they want good coverage and LTE, a nexus is still a great option. No, it didn't get te updates as fast as the other nexi, but it did get the updates faster than non-nexus devices, especially jelly bean. If its not fast enough for you, then go ahead w your unlocked version. To advocate to remove the option for those if us with a bit more patience, willing to wait a little in exchange for great coverage and LTE, is beyond me.

Besides, to avoid VZW would be a gaff on Googles part. If you haven't noticed, Google has started marketing the nexus brand to the masses with the Nexus 7. This may also be why there are rumors about opening the nexus brand up to all OEMs under certain standards. This is there way of assuring less and less fragmentation if consumers by these devices. To mass market them, then ignore US' biggest carrier makes no sense and is highly unlikely. If you don't like it, no one is keeping you on big red. So please stop saying those of us using VZW shouldn't get the option.

1. I have zero hesitation to believing that this isn't coming to verizon or Sprint. Google has had a lot of bad experiences with CDMA and I think they want to stick to the open nature of GSM.

2. LTE is still somewhat locked down which restricts Google's ability to work with it and provide open source drivers and updates.

Consequently, I think for the next nexus we will only see the google play version (as we currently have) and not the sprint/version that are sold in their stores controlled by their companies.

Google and the carriers main goal is to put as many devices in as many hands as possible. If you think Google is going to alienate an entire subset of users because they are on a CDMA (this is the culprit to the slow updates by the way, not LTE) carrier just as they start expanding their Nexus line you are delusional.

As much as a problem as the Nexus launch was on Verizon (I don't know what pains Sprint users have gone through), I can't see Google wanting to shy away from CDMA just because it was a challenge. Verizon and Sprint are here to stay for the foreseeable future so it's in the best interest of the Nexus line to stay on board with multiple carriers especially in the US with others moving to LTE.

For those that hate on Verizon, I know, they are the big bad wolf. They overcharge for service that, for me, is hands down the best across the nation with coverage. I've been everywhere in the US & Big Red has always had the best coverage out there. Even today at my office, I see AT&T people standing next to the window to talk while I roam the building on my phone without issue; Sprint friends lose their signals at home and ask to you use my phone. (did I use the semi-colon right there? I hate that thing) Point being, Verizon is the biggest and for a lot of us the best so bring on the Nexus (Nexi? Holding out hope) because we deserve it as much as anyone else.

This. Thanks for saving me a lot of typing. :p
I don't think that Verizon would just give up. That's like admitting defeat. Hopefully, they are learning from their challenges and moving on.
I am personally just observing this Nexus release. My phone works just fine and better than probably 95% of the phones on the market right now, due to the software. This is a lot unlike getting this phone back in December. My Droid had hardware limitations that would not let it function smoothly. Gingerbread was its limitations and it would have helped to have 512 mb of RAM. I see having no problems having this phone last another 10 months. I will see what the upgrade policy is at that time. Also, there's always something better right around the corner. Sure, it would be nice to have quad core. But, when I do upgrade, I want a more substantially superior phone.

Exactly my thoughts too!
I jumped on android ship with GNex 4 monts ago, and I don`t see that am falling behind at all, even now, one year after release.
With Jelly Bean, Project butter, phenomenal screen, beautiful curved designe....am still in the game , and am satisfied like a dog in an elevator! ;););)

At the end, I think this is one big conspiracy theory and the specs are just teasing Android, Tech, Nexus and forum boys and girls! :D:D
Cheer

I can't decide now, I have to see the device personally and experiment the specs. But I have a feeling that I'll sell my SGS2 and get the Motorola Droid Razr MAXX HD,,,

My experience with the LTE version has been good. What has been bad about yours?

I am on device #3 (although VZW sent me a 4th before we figured out a solution for problems with #3, so I am still on #3). I had major signal problems (data and call) with #1, major software functionality problems with #2 and then minor software problems with #3 (solved with 3rd party apps). Two friends and my son also have the same device. One friend is on device #3 about to become #4, the other had minor issues (prior to JB upgrade, anyway). So far, my son has had the best luck of the four of us. But the friend on device #3 currently enjoys substantially stronger data signal strength than my son's and mine. He may or may not lose that if/when he has to switch to device #4. He continues to suffer from in-call chirping, among a few other more minor issues.

For me, I have to say that, after a factory reset at least, Jelly Bean has delivered the performance and stability that I had expected out of the gate with the original release. I get 12+ hours on battery with 2+ hours screen time including gaming, web browsing, texting and even an hour of talk time. I no longer get random reboots and, generally speaking, everything seems to run very smoothly, though the odd auto-launching of Crime City after using SwiftKey to enter text somewhere is a little irritating.

Not saying this to be a jerk, but in this forum, ours say Verizon 4G LTE & Samsung. No Google. It's possible that any new Nexi say 'with Google'.

Yea I guess that is true lol

You are not the only one. I have been very happy with mine.

Regarding your comment about VZW Nexus getting Jelly Bean. I think you are right.

The RAZR received ICS just a few months ago. I doubt they will see Jelly Bean before next year.

Yeah, to my knowledge, pending the release of the note 2, the gnex is the only VZW device w jelly bean. Not even the razr hd/maxx will be coming w jelly bean, though promised to come by the end if the year. The demo units ran jelly bean, but the devices are still coming out with ics, which I don't get... The point remains, even on VZW, the nexus devices are the first to be upgraded.

Sorry. Will not buy another lg phone..... Nexus or not. What a shame. Would have jump into a new one if it were made by anyone else but lg. Sticking by the gnex. LG no more.

Am I the only one not ready to move to a LG based on what we're seeing today?

Being an LG device is not a deterrent for me. I don't care about that very much. I'm just not someone who has to switch phones constantly. I am in a two-year contract with my Galaxy Nexus. I am perfectly fine and patient enough to wait for my contract to end. Besides, once I'm out of contract, I'll have a lot more leeway with trying to get a deal out of Verizon.

Gonna wait this one out.
If I don't like what I see, I'm gonna have to go with the GNex.

Unfortunately, i don't think i would want an LG, my friends and family and forums I've read about LG devices, people just hated their experiences with them, or the software on them. But I don't have to make that decision since it won't be coming to vzw, which i use, I am a hostage to vzw lte network.

Remember the rumors a few months back about Google creating their own carrier? Maybe having multiple Nexus devices is the first step. Imagine having a network with all Nexus devices on it. They would give you a choice of a Motorola, Samsung, LG or HTC Nexus. All unlocked, yet a little bit different from each other, hardware and configuration wise. Maybe they could buy a network or lease from the bigger carriers. That way, if your phone doesn't work, you would go to Google and not Verizon.
I know, I am probably dreaming. But think of the possibilities.

Just send Google ur dreams and maybe they can make it into a reality. Unless ur focused into ur own dreams rather then theirs. I'm pretty sure u wanna complete some personal things instead of helping Google becoming richer.
