No need to move to the LG Nexus

If JB wasn't so great with this phone I might have considered the LG. That being said i'm a happy camper here and have no need at the moment to just get a new Nexus phone. Now a 32GB Nexus 7 is another story. Nevermind the Mystery Nexus 10 in Sammy is to produce. My money will be in other places then a new phone.

so let me get this straight people here are saying that they are not going to buy the LG Nexus because of the rumors OK OK that sounds pretty clever

I'm thinking about just getting a Samsung Galaxy Nexus (Unlocked) since it's supposedly suppose to run the same OS the LG Nexus is going to run and just use the SGN until the LGN get's a price drop and then purchase that device. Anyone else going this route or one similar?

I wouldn't mind a LG nexus. I have had a number of LG devices and liked them. Optimus V, G2x, etc. I figure the reason we are seeing 8GB is because it is a beta device. I wish my gnex had more than 16gb but I manage. I will probably pass on the LG nexus for the following reasons though:

Probably won't be $350 like current Play Store Gnex
If I get a quad core device I would prefer the tegra3
I want a removable battery so I can add an extended battery like I have on my Gnex
I don't care about LTE or contracts. I use Straight Talk so the best I can get is HSPA+ but that's fine too.

Just my $0.02

Verizon is evil and they prove it every day. They F**d up the G-Nex launch. They can't be trusted. No exclusive launches for those bastards - or any other carrier ever again.

Maybe they passed on LTE this time due to the miserable experience with the first attempt. Let's face it...the LTE version of the Galaxy Nexus has been anything but spectacular.

I have no complaints about my Verizon Galaxy Nexus. It's been spectacular for me.

If you are buying unlocked from the play store, then you only get the HSPA+ G-Nexus. There may be other versions of the new LG Nexus besides the rumored one we've seen. After all, the prototype is from almost 6 months ago. I'll wait and see what the official final specs are. I'm on T-Mobile with the new fully unlimited data (no throttling/caps) so HSPA+ 42Mbps is all I need (though I could settle for 21). So for me, a much faster (and power-efficient) quad-core A15 based S4 processor (and Adreno 320, of course), IPS HD Display, 2GB RAM instead of 1GB, & custom LG battery with at least 800 charging cycles, are definitely upgrades that are worthy to me. Damn, I'm excited just thinking about it. :D

My experience with the LTE version has been good. What has been bad about yours?

1. I have zero hesitation to believing that this isn't coming to verizon or Sprint. Google has had a lot of bad experiences with CDMA and I think they want to stick to the open nature of GSM.

2. LTE is still somewhat locked down which restricts Google's ability to work with it and provide open source drivers and updates.

Consequently, I think for the next nexus we will only see the google play version (as we currently have) and not the sprint/version that are sold in their stores controlled by their companies.

Verizon is overrated! Leave the Nexus line to the GSM carriers.

It's not when you have unlimited data.

As long as the LG Nexus has much improved battery life and comes to Verizon, I'll be buying it. If not, well the processor is great and all but I'll probably be switching to a MAXX HD.

Why would you want Tegra? The dual core S4 is as good as the quad core Tegra 3. I can only imagine the quad core S4 is a lot better.

As much as a problem as the Nexus launch was on Verizon (I don't know what pains Sprint users have gone through), I can't see Google wanting to shy away from CDMA just because it was a challenge. Verizon and Sprint are here to stay for the foreseeable future so it's in the best interest of the Nexus line to stay on board with multiple carriers especially in the US with others moving to LTE.

For those that hate on Verizon, I know, they are the big bad wolf. They overcharge for service that, for me, is hands down the best across the nation with coverage. I've been everywhere in the US & Big Red has always had the best coverage out there. Even today at my office, I see AT&T people standing next to the window to talk while I roam the building on my phone without issue; Sprint friends lose their signals at home and ask to you use my phone. (did I use the semi-colon right there? I hate that thing) Point being, Verizon is the biggest and for a lot of us the best so bring on the Nexus (Nexi? Holding out hope) because we deserve it as much as anyone else.

With the recent pictures of this lg phone on the back it says with Google... every nexus that has came out just says Google never says with Google right ? Or am I trippin

Not saying this to be a jerk, but in this forum, ours say Verizon 4G LTE & Samsung. No Google. It's possible that any new Nexi say 'with Google'.

You do know this was just an engineering prototype right? I wouldn't get caught up on the branding .

It's a nexus... therefore, it won't be like all of LG's other devices. There will undoubtedly be better specs for this phone, not major, but still better than the gnex. I don't get why it being an LG would be a reason to not get it. Doesn't matter who makes it and I personally think it'll be better than the gne which would make me jump from the gnex to this device.

As far as "not needing to move on to the LG Nexus 4," I think it's still too early to "think" anything. When the Nexus 4 (and possibly the other rumored Nexus phones from various manufacturers) is officially revealed, then it makes sense to start making decisions. Until then, everything is simple conjecture based on unconfirmed and potentially or slightly incorrect information.

On a slightly different note, I played with a(nother) Galaxy Nexus at a Sprint store tonight and I noticed that it, like all the other ones I've played with, had a certain dimness to it... I even turned off the auto-brightness and revved the brightness to max and the phone's screen was still noticeably dim compared to other phones in the store. The first time I played with a GNex and saw the overall dimness to the screen, I thought it was simply from wear 'n tear in being a store model. But ALL the Galaxy Nexus phones I've played with (at Sprint and Verizon stores) are like this...

UPDATE:
After watching a video review for the Samsung Galaxy S3, there was an option in the 'Display' menu called "Auto adjust screen tone," in which the reviewer stated if said option is checked "On," the screen can become too dim for viewing certain things (e.g. sites with a lot of white, as in the background for example). Not sure if "Auto adjust screen tone" is included as an option in the Galaxy Nexus but perhaps since they're both Samsung? I've also noticed with the Samsung phones I've played with recently (the GNex and S III) that the screens tend to have a very noticeable bluish tint to them... The last LG phone I had -- the Rumor -- wasn't a smartphone so with the Nexus 4 batting down the hatches, I wonder how LG's smartphone screens fare amongst the competition... Anyone?
