My new replacement G4 is giving me the same problem as my previous G4. I am on VZ. In situations where others have service on VZ, both of my phones have been dropping the VZ connection. When I try the email or web, haven't tried a call, I get the no network connection message. When this happens it still says I have 4G service with at least 2 bars. To fix it I have to either do a hard reboot or power down the phone. This doesn't just happen indoors, it has happened outside in areas that have good cell coverage. My wife standing beside me on her S4 has had no problem when I have this issue.
Have any of you experienced this problem, especially on VZ?

Not had any issues with the service on my G4 with Verizon. That is very strange to see.

Are you using a new SIM card or an old one?

I Agree with the last 2 response, this is not your problem it's Verizon's.
I have the Verizon variant with no data or phone connection issues.

The sim card was replaced in my 1st phone. It made no difference. I still had the issue on an ongoing basis.
I went back to VZ this afternoon. The person that looked at my phone discovered the problem, it seems. In the mobile network settings, the phone was set to global instead of 4G/LTE. He changed it and so far no more problems. This setting is something I normally look at when I get a new phone and didn't do it with either of my phones. Since these are coming from the factory set this way, I would think it would be something VZ looked at when they were activating a new phone.
I probably didn't need this 2nd phone, but I had 2 other software problems with it, so in the end this worked out to the good. Hope I don't have the network connection problem anymore.
The VZ tech said this is an issue he sees all the time across all phones.

You know I was going to suggest this! I was going through my Verizon phone yesterday and noticed it was on global. I don't use the WiFi and haven't really noticed any signal problems. But I switched it to 4g/lte as well.

Sorry for the duplicate post. When I hit reply to post, my connection was lagging and it somehow posted twice, even though I only hit reply once.

No worries, glad you got it sorted out, I thought only unlocked phones had the mobile network option for global. Learn something new every day I guess.

I just checked my phone, it was set to Global also, my other choice was LTE/CDMA not 4G/LTE like yours but I switched anyway. I have VZ also.

It is amazing that it could happen with Verizon. They strive to lock down their phones to a greater extent than other carriers in the US. I wonder how many phones were impacted?

Because all of Verizon LTE phones are GSM unlocked.
When the FCC granted Verizon the LTE bands that they use now, the FCC required that Verizon NOT lock the GSM radio, so Verizon had no choice in the matter, either have all their LTE phones unlocked (GSM radio only, firmware still locked) or not get the LTE bands from the FCC.

He means with the bloat and removing of features as "locking down" -- Not the actual locking / unlocking of the radio.
