What are they smoking at Google? The Pixel XL is $300 more expensive then the 6P was for marginally better specs, but not as good as a Note7 or a V20 which have similar prices. Hopefully they will come to their senses next year with the 2017 phones, it's happened before, the 6 was overpriced then they followed it it with the 6P which was a bargain. If they stick with this in 2017 I'll be getting a V30 or Note 8.

They seem to disagree and are also noticing that on all the major phones, no one cares much for the difference between $22 per month, $28 per month and $37 per month.

Are you getting the Pixel? What are your reasons? (for? against?)

I was surprised not to see a thread like this yet.

Now that we have the full, confirmed, official details on the Pixel phones, are any of you 6P owners going to buy it?

I actually watched the whole announcement live. As soon as it ended, I was all hyped up on the Pixel. I immediately went to the store and ordered one! XL...Black... 128GB....with protect. I got it. If they were going to sell out, I wanted to get in on it.

Now... just hours later... I am leaning toward cancelling the order. I just put together a phone that is $1,000 (includes tax). $1,000 !!!! That's exactly in line with a iPhone 7 Plus, same memory, and includes AppleCare. I know this because my partner bought one last week. The prices basically match now.

Anyone buy? Not buy? Can we have this discussion?

Re: Are you getting the Pixel? What are your reasons? (for? against?)

No. For no other reason than I don't switch phones til they break.

Re: Are you getting the Pixel? What are your reasons? (for? against?)

$1000 for a phone..... no thanks

Re: Are you getting the Pixel? What are your reasons? (for? against?)

No. After all the leaks, I knew I didn't like the looks and wouldn't pay the price. I bought an N5x through Google Fi about 3 weeks ago to replace my ailing N5. I'm still surprised at how much I like it!

Re: Are you getting the Pixel? What are your reasons? (for? against?)

It's crazy to spend that much on a phone. I'll revisit the issue a year from now but if the 2017 Pixels are priced like the 2016s then I'll seriously consider an S8 or V30, if you are going to pay that kind of mone you should at least get a dual camera.

Forget the specs as all recent flagships sport similar specs. This is all about the total experience, merging high quality construction with customized Android software.

Re: Are you getting the Pixel? What are your reasons? (for? against?)

As most, it's the price. I don't purchase Sammy or LG for the same reason. It's certainly worth the price for those looking for a flagship, but that's not my priority.

Re: Are you getting the Pixel? What are your reasons? (for? against?)

I like very much my 6P and I won't buy Pixel nor Pixel XL!

Re: Are you getting the Pixel? What are your reasons? (for? against?)

No, after paying $425 for the Nexsus 6P, I am spoiled by the price. If I feel the need for a new phone, I may go OnePlus 3. Maybe even wait for OnePlus 4 (rumors are its going to be a beast!)

Re: Are you getting the Pixel? What are your reasons? (for? against?)

No and if anyone spots a price drop on the 6P please post it here. Thanks.

Re: Are you getting the Pixel? What are your reasons? (for? against?)

Just to toss more into this discussion.... I am really starting to think Google made a big mistake pricing exactly like the iPhone 7 and at or above Samsung's flagships. It can't possibly cost that much more to produce given the mild spec increase compared to the 6P.

Is this going to be a flop?

Re: Are you getting the Pixel? What are your reasons? (for? against?)

I like it, but not at that price range. Even if they threw in the VR headset it wouldn't be worth it to me.

I may reconsider in a few months if the price goes down but right now my 6p is more than adequate.

Already seems like it. I was looking at the preorder thread for the XL and only 30 replies since preorders went live if I remember correctly there was over a 100 replies for the same thread in the 6p forum last year. Just doesn't seem like the excitement level is there.

I've been an iPhone user since 2007 with a break from 2010-2012 using android and since coming to iPhone I get excited this time of year for every new phone Google announces but this time it's just not there for me. The phones are ugly, priced same as iPhone/Samsung, only bottom firing speaker and not even water resistance. Also a seemingly minimal spec bump compared to the 6p.

Re: Are you getting the Pixel? What are your reasons? (for? against?)

Way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, waaaaaaaaaaay too ******* expensive! I would go to $600, but more. And my 6p is still pretty awesome and has been the best. The Pixels are real sexy looking, but for now, I'm Nexus married man!

Re: Are you getting the Pixel? What are your reasons? (for? against?)

Nope, and with Google now indicating that 7.1 won't come to the 6P till the end of the year (and then only as a preview/beta), my next phone may be a (gulp) iPhone at least they get updates for 4 years. Google is apparently doing it's best to renege on updates on existing Nexus devices. Nexus devices are now the proverbial "red headed step children" of Google.

Re: Are you getting the Pixel? What are your reasons? (for? against?)

Definitely not because of the price.

Re: Are you getting the Pixel? What are your reasons? (for? against?)

Not worth the price. 32GB isn't enough and then it's $750 for the next tier for 128GB. For the pixel XL.
Minor upgrades for the 6P users.

Re: Are you getting the Pixel? What are your reasons? (for? against?)

Well, Looks like I will be sticking with my 6P for another year and that's not a bad thing! I have no issues with this phone what so ever. Still takes excellent pictures, good build quality and rock solid performance with zero lag. No reason to upgrade besides I have been spoiled by paying 4-500 for phones. With the 128 GB model of the XL with protection touching $1000 bucks, it was an easy decision. Looking forward to see what's in the pipeline next year, maybe a OP4
