No update showing for January security patch on Nexus 6P

Re: Nexus 6P Updates

Just a simple factory reset in Settings?

Edit: You're my hero, I love you. First notification when my phone booted up was "System update available: Android 6.0.1"

Thanks again!

Edit2: Will I have to do this for every upcoming update?

Hey no worries, happy to help :) ... I am guessing you have received the January update by now? For future, you may have to wait till mid-February to see if you get that month's update to make an accurate judgment.

Until then, have fun!

I don't claim to know or understand how Google stages updates. What I can say is that I have both a 5X & 6P received about six weeks apart. Each phone uses a different carrier. And I received the last two updates on both handsets about the same time (within a few hours of each other).

The November update dropped in the second week of the month. The December update dropped in the third week.

Don't know what it means, but that's how it rolls out on my end. I have no complaints. The Nexus experience has been very good to me.

I'm still on the December 1, 2015 security patch. I'm not worried. I believe I got that update around the middle of that month

My 6p still has not received the January update. My old 6p (had to send it back for issues) received it???

Is this odd? Shouldn't I have received the update by now? Does anyone still not have it?

No, not odd. I'd say that typically you'll want to give it until at least the 15th of any month before you start worrying about it -- Google seems to roll it out over about two weeks. Plus, if you get in a hurry or don't receive it within a couple of weeks after the update is released, you can always flash the update.

Finally got the update here in Dubai! Thanks for the mind torturing wait Google! That was fun! Hope you don't do it again!

It can also depend on carrier. Unlike other phones its based on the sim carrier not where phone was purchased. Since your in NZ I assume you may have got the phone through 2degrees. 2degrees does do testing on updates for nexus to make sure all works with the network.
You may not have the upate yet becuase either google is doing a staggered roll out or google is awaiting 2Degrees testing.
There is not exactly new features in this update so why not just wait for it to roll out?
Ive heard changing to a skinny sim to install updates can speed it up and then change back once installed. As skinny doesn't have to approve updates.. But haven't tried it personally

Hey there, did not buy through 2degrees, but I do use a 2degrees sim in it. Got my update last week anyway. You are right, don't think I would want to go around changing SIMs or manually updating for a simple security patch in future :)
Cheers for now!

System OTA over WiFi only?!?!

I have the Jan security update sitting in my update section, but it says my phone must be on WiFi to download it? That's weird its always just downloaded the update, is there a way to turn this off, I find it quite annoying?
