No Voicemail Notification

If you ever used call forwarding and your carrier is VZ the CF flag in VZ's system may still be set. Redo the *73 then remove the battery from your phone for 1 minute then restart. This has cleared up my lack of voice mail notifications in the past.

My phone and my wife's both stopped receiving voicemail notifications. Here is the fix. Go to text message icon on the home screen, go to voicemail then to menu then settings. Once settings is open go to menu again and restore default settings. Then reboot phone. This worked on both my phones.
I will try this thanks for the info. did not work but thanks,

If you have the visual voicemessage app, you need to disable it to be able to get the notifications. That's how I fixed mine. You can always go back to the app to enable it.

had the same issue with my galaxy s3. the only way I knew if I had a voicemail was the icon on the notification bar. the solution to receiving audible notification when you have a voicemail is go to settings, choose language and input, then choose text to speech output, and finally turn on driving mode. you will receive an audible alert that you have a voice message waiting.

I need visual voicemail to have a counter notification on my t-mobile samsung galaxy s4
or
offer me back the old regular voicemail that does have counter notification

a new phone should not have less capabilities

this is stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are we talking about the counter on the shortcut or the notification in the status bar?

I want to get the counter on the shortcut on my homescreen. You use to be able to add a voicemail widget rather than just the app which shows the counter but I no longer have that option

Just switched from Blackberry to Samsung. Missed an important business call. Thought it was strange, then went into voice mail and found 3 vm's over 3 day's old. I've been so displeased with my switch BB to Android. BB is so much better for a work tool. Everything on the android is just fun and games. It's like a cool toy that I need to leave at home when I go to work. Irritated rant....

Have had this issue several times. Seems like it will eventually happen if I leave the phone on indefinitely and just keep recharging. If I briefly turn if off and on again voicemail notification works normally. This issue has caused me some problems so now I just reflexively dial up my voicemail every so often to make sure.

Voice Mail notifications missing! There is an application called 'Visual Voicemail'. It seemed to worm its way onto my phone, where I was asked if I wanted to try it. From the time I said OK, my voicemail notifications stopped. The only way I knew that I'd received a Vmail, was to dial in anyway, where I would find that I have saved Vmail, even though I had not listened to them.

After I'd found that this app added no value to my experience, I didn't continue with it, but the notifications didn't return. The solution I have found was to find the app and its settings. From there it was easy to see; turn it off! I tested voice mail and my notifications returned immediately. I went the extra step and held down my finger on the app, until the trashcan appeared at the top of my screen.......gone!

Found out today that I wasn't getting voicemail notifications after a relative chastised me for not returning his vm. I pressed the vm icon and found SIX voicemails from the course of the week that I didn't know about.
Luckily I found this thread and one of the members suggested this: go to settings-application manager-voicemail app-check box to show notification.
This totally worked!

Well folks. I hope this helps. I have a droid mini. The suggestions to call voicemail and press 4 then 1 do not work. The many other suggestions also did not work. I simply selected the voice mail app included with the phone and set up the app following the prompts. Access the apps by depressing the circle with six dots located in the center bottom of the main screen, then slide the screens left until you see the red icon named voice mail. There was an option to upgrade that appears to add costs to your bill. I declined that. Once the set up was complete, a red voicemail icon appeared on the phone that showed the quantity of unheard voicemails. One would think that this would be standard setup on any phone. I am not certain why tis is excluded. I wold think that missed calls, text messages, voice mails, then emails if applicable would be automatically set up.

Just joined. I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 and also don't see any voice mail notifications on the home screen. I looked on the apps and widgets for that red Voice Mail app but there is none. I have searched for a voicemail notification app but can't seem to find one that simply lets me know on the homescreen that I have voicemail... And settings under voicemail only shows the number, no other settings. And calling in does not give you an option to dial 4 to turn on notification. I too am missing a lot of calls. Any other suggestions, or any app?
Thanks,

since installing Nova Launcher on my GalaxyS5 I don't get notifications for new VM or text msgs - is this fixable?

I had this problem ever since I replaced my Droid RAZR MAXX with my Nexus 6P.

It turns out that, because my Droid came from Verizon, it had been "provisioned" for Visual Voice Mail.

When I called the Voice Mail number, and entered 4 (personal options) then 1 (voice mail indications) I got a message saying that "1" was an invalid option!!! There was no option for the voice mail indicator!!!

So I spoke with Verizon tech support, and they figured it out. The re-provisioned me for standard voice mail (not VISUAL voice mail) and then the missing option to turn in the indicator (see above) was there.

I turned the indicator on, and now it works.

The Nexus 6P did not come from Verizon. It did not come with all the Verizon bloat-ware pre-installed. No Visual Voice Mail app.

I haven't had a voice mail notification since I got this thing. Got my *** chewed by my boss's boss for not calling him back after he left a message telling me to do so. Sure enough, it was there, along with several other messages I didn't know about.

Is this just my phone, or are there others?

Posted via Tapatalk 2 quite possibly while I'm on the john with my DROID DNA

Hello 4WoofGrrr! No, NOT the only one!!!! I've had this problem since I've been with Verizon day 1! Very frustrating indeed! I don't know if it's my phones or the service. I've never bothered to call Verizon because it's just too much work because I'm too busy of a person. On my last phone which was a Motorola 4GLte it was ridiculous. I also got in hot water a couple of times missing important details or meetings because i didn't know I had voicemails/ messages from my boss and or clients. MAJOR problem.

So now I have a new Droid Turbo 2 & am having the same exact problem!!!! I decided to call my voicemail out of the blue & I have 9 VOICEMAILS!!!!!? WTF!?!? And I'm interviewing for jobs right now. I didn't get one single notification of a missed call or a voicemail at all. I know this is because Verizon wants customers to pay the monthly $2.99 for their "Visual Voicemail"service. They can forget it. I'm already pissed off because that changed my plan on me without my authorization which made my bill go up an additional $50 a montb & the only reason i can do anything about it right now is because I'm past due on my bill. I'm upset with myself because last month I had the opportunity to switch to another carrier & I decided to stay because they've been good to me up until now. As soon as my bill is paid next week that's it. I've been telling everyone how great Verizon is for over 3 years & now I'll never do it again.

Welcome to the forums. Have you tried a different voicemail app in Play?

Hey folks, I found a fix to this problem. Couldn't get some of the suggestions posted here to work. Called Verizon support: Go to Settings>Data usage>turn on Mobile data This worked for me. I'm using Apex launcher on a Galaxy Note 7.

Well, that's ridiculous. I'm forced to keep my data plan on in order to receive voicemails? I'm trying to cut down on the data I'm using.
