5Ge works fine unlocked on att. it's everything else i'm having issues with

5GE is enhanced 4GLTE
Wait 24 to 48 hours to see if the wifi will work


Edit: also can have Att provision your sim to IMEI of the phone but wait 24 to 48 after

5Ge isn't 5G though, it is basically LTE+, At&t just rebranded it to look better. But real 5G is supposed to work, haven't seen it though from anyone.

A few easy things to check that VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling are set up to work:

Settings/About Phone/Status/Sim card status
IMS registration = registered
Mobile voice network type = LTE

Network should remain LTE when on a call

Phone/Settings
Wi-Fi calling must be toggled ON

As long as the above options are available and on, it should be working.

hmm, IMS not registered...

as for wifi calling, there's no option to toggle. it's just not there at all

Sounds like your carrier hasn't enabled it. Two possibilities - either you can call them to have IMS activated manually, or they can't/won't and there is a problem with the model you are using (not supported).

Without IMS registered, neither VoLTE nor Wi-Fi calling will work.

AT&T do not patch their phones regularly even with security patches you may be looking at three patches per year and android 11 you will won't see that until 2021 on an ATT DEVICE 5G is not that important right now the networks are not fully built. LTE is fast enough I'm getting almost 40 to 50 sometimes 60 Megs per second what is it that you need to do on your phone when you even need 5G

alright so i called att and registered my imei. now it says IMS is registered and i get VoLTE. still no sign of wifi calling though, and i have no way of telling if hd voice is working or not

3 security patches a year? AT&T releases monthly security patches like any other carrier. We got Android 10 before the end of 2019 so not sure what devices you're using.

Unlocked devices are always a crap shoot with AT&T. If AT&T doesn't give official word of WiFI Calling support with unlock models I wouldn't buy unlocked if you need WiFI calling. I wouldn't trust an article especially if they don't provide an official source from AT&T stating it. Not sure why the fuss over Unlocked vs Locked if you're going to be using AT&T. You can disable or uninstall all the bloat. Seems like a small issue or reason to go unlocked vs the headaches of unsupported features. If you plan to jump to another carrier then get it unlocked by AT&T or third party.

I got my AT&T variant from Samsung in the mail today, haven't opened it. I probably will since there is no restocking and see which one I like better.

I have both. Only difference I can tell is no wifi calling on the unlocked and AT&T bloat on the carrier version. I don't need wifi calling so the benefit of having the unlocked and unbloated phone make the unlocked version my choice if I decide to keep the Ultra. Still debating on staying with the Note 10+

I returned my unlocked version for the att version and obviously wifi calling now is available and works fine. I need it because I work from home and my office is kind of spotty.

Now the only thing I really hate about the att version in comparison is the dumb att text in the notification bar next to the time that is always there unless a notification comes in. What a joke. It doesn't show on the unlocked version even though I'm using the same sim card.

Can't stand cluttered notification shades. Haha.

It's not a lock screen issue. It's always there, even just on the desktop. See pic. First phone I've seen w the carrier there on home screen.

D/L Good lock app, install quickstar mod, and in visibility indicators, you can remove icons from showing in your status bar.
