Android Central Question

Hi,
I would appreciate it if someone can help me. I’m at my sister’s place and when I arrived I used her Wifi to use WhatsApp and Facebook with no issues. A few hours later I went to use Whatsapp again and my messages won’t go through and I can’t receive. I also can’t go on the internet except sometimes I can go on Google and search but the links don’t work. Any site I go on just stalls but I don’t get a message that I’m not connected to the internet. Also the mobile network isn’t working also. (I don’t have a data plan).

Everyone else here is using Wifi without issues.

I’ve restarted my phone many times. I also turned the wifi setting on and off and I also deleted it and entered the password again to reconnect it.

For the mobile network I read online to turn on airplane mode, then turn phone off, restart and turn airplane mode off but it doesn’t work

Now out of the blue I’m receiving WhatsApp messages (except one just now I did as a test from my sister’s phone and it doesn’t show I’ve read it either) but I still can’t send and still have the above problems.

I have a Samsung Galaxy J3 Prime phone. It is all up to date except the latest one.

If anyone can helpI’d appreciate it.

Thanks

Re: No Wifi or mobile internet

Thanks. I signed up but after many attempts my account wouldn’t verify. Thinking it was a glitch I then went ahead and created a post hoping I could sign in after. Then created a new account with no issues.

The title should obviously say "Mobile Network" not Mobile internet.

I'm using version 8.1.0
I don't use a VPN.
The carrier I'm using is Telus and my sister uses the same. (We're in Canada).

I wanted to add that under Connection settings it always says “Connected.”

Thanks.

Re: No Wifi or mobile internet

I just used another Wifi near us that’s public and got all WhatsApp messages sent and received but still can’t get on the internet but it’s a weak signal. Mobile network still isn’t working.

Did a test WhatsApp message to my sister using her Wifi and again won’t go through.

Guess it’s a carrier issue?

Welcome to AC!
Fixed your title
Maybe try forgetting your sister wifi and add again or if you can reboot her wifi router?

For mobile networks go to settings>connection>reset the APN

Hi, I’ve already tried adding my sister’s wifi again and it didn’t work. I’ll ask to reboot the router. Thought of doing that earlier but didn’t want to bother my sister about it unless I had to.

Tried to reset the APN butI don’t see it under Connection?

Thanks

For APN if you go to settings>connection>mobile network>APN >do you see 3 dots upper right corner ? Then tap and should see reset

Welcome to Android Central! Since you don't have a mobile data plan, your mobile data won't allow you to connect to the web anyway.

Rebooting the router is the first thing to try -- just unplug its power for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and wait a minute or so for it to start up again.

There are some other possibilities that would require you to log into the router's settings on the web. For example, there's an option that can limit the total number of devices that can be connected at a time. See this guide: http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...roubleshooting-wi-fi-connection-problems.html

@B. Diddy I’ve never had a data plan and have always been able to use the mobile network. It costs an arm and a leg so only use it when I absolutely have to.

One of my nieces said ever since my other niece moved back home a month ago she’s been having problems using the internet but eventually gets on by restarting her phone or turning the connection off and on. That doesn’t work for me at all. There were never any issues before when both nieces lived at home visited. Sounds like they’ve limited the amount of devices.

Unfortunately I don’t have control of the router long story short and will have to do it next time I visit. Thanks for your help and the link. I will refer to it next time. Probably going to have the same issue when I visit again.

Oh I see. I didn't realize that you have a "pay-as-you-go" data plan.
