.nomedia not working - Hide Whatsapp Media

I have a new samsung s8. All my Whatsapp media is in my gallery and it has created over a 1000 albums.. How can I stop Whatsapp media from appearing in my gallery?

I have put .nomedia file in EVERY folder in whatsapp directory but it still shows in gallery.

Does the .nomedia file have an extension, i.e., .nomedia.txt? I had the same issue but discovered that when I had created the file my file manager had added .txt to it so it didn't work. The file has to be named .nomedia with no extension.

This is happening to me too. How do I install a nomedia file?

Just use a file manager and create a new file called .nomedia in whatever folder you need it in. Make sure the file does not have an extension. You can also copy and paste the file if you require it in more than one folder or directory.
