Noob question about Pixel's camera

Again this is for my mum who owns the Pixel, apparently only I am capable of using forums and getting these questions answered lol, she's the best though so it's all good.

Does the camera, in either single shot mode or video mode have a zoom function? If so, can someone please explain how to access it.

Welcome to the forums. Both can zoom. It's the same finger motion as zooming out of a photo (also called pinch, even though the gesture to me is more like a spread...lol)

There's also a setting in the Camera app to make the Volume buttons act as Zoom (or Shutter Release).
