Nook Color... thoughts/impressions?

I have just bought two (2) Nook Colors, for my Girlfriend & I. We love this thing, we are not big readers of books by any stretch of the imagination, (I bought the Nook knowing I could not get eBooks on it, being in the UK, but I had an idea at what I would be able to do, everything regarding my life as a Jeweller & a Teacher, for what its cost ?161.00 plus import taxes or VAT ($249) its exceeded all of my expectations by a mile) Its so much more than an eReader.

It has a display of 16 Million Colours, It takes a Micro SD or Micro SDHC cards up to 32gb.

Displays PDF, EPUB,

Word (doc, docx, docm, dot, dotx, dotm).

Excel (xls, xlsx, xlsm, xlt, xltx, xltm).

PowerPoint (ppt, pptx, pps, ppsx, ppsm, pot, potx, pot)
.
Rich Text Format (rtf).

Plain Text (txt).

& HTML (htm, html, xhtml)


Music Files -

Mid
Midi
Mp3
M4a
Wav
Acc
Amr

Video Files -

3gp
3g2
mp4
m4v
ogg

It has "Tabbed" Broswing, Most Visited, History, It plays YouTube videos, you can post on forums & blogs from it, I can edit my blog from it, Email from it, Tweet & Facebook from it, Internet Banking on it, all my Web Apps are saved as bookmarks with usernames & passwords intact.

It connects to my Wifi, Mifi, my girlfriends Wifi & Mifi and My Mums all automatically.

The Nook has a Universal Search (like OS 6 For BlackckBerry, RIM)

Search from the Home Screen, searches Library, Shop (if you have eBooks on your Nook, which we don't)
Web Browser History
Web
Wikipedia

Typing anything in Search Bar in Browser searches Google.

Search Tool, searches Extras, (extras being Music, Games, Contacts & Gallery) Browser, library, Music & Shop. Basically a "Universal Search"

Thus this wonderful piece of kit is an extension of my laptop, the same laptop that I love to bits, its also an extension of my BlackBerry Bold 9700, which in turn is an extension of me.

I'm try to root my Nook Color 1.2, I have all the nessacary files, when trying to copy the "Update-cm-7.0.3-encore-signed.zip file, I get a progress bar starting at 0, it stays at zero and hangs my laptop.

I feel as if I'm doing something wrong, missed a stage, everybody says its so easy. Could it be a lack off memory on laptop.

Just figured it out today, I have got CM7 on my official stock 1.2 & B&N have gone & released an official update. GGGGGRRRRRRRRRR!


CM7 is very slow & sluggish, is there a way to speed it up?

Are you running from an SD card? If so make sure it's a Sandisk. Also overclocking helps a lot and so does using the V6 supercharger script.

I'm using a Kingston HC Class 4, that's where lies the problem.

Will it run normally if I put CM7 on the internal drive? Or is it possible to downgrade Nook back to 1.1, so that I can put Nookiefroyo back on with manualnooter?

I don't get the full advantage of the Nook from 1.2 or will have from the update 1.3 as I'm in the UK. I can't buy apps or books & the apps I can download from B&N, bar 3 (Evernote, Pulse & Fandango Movies) are to say the least, terrible.

Yes cm7 is much faster off your internal memory.
