not getting push gmail through gmail app

I am not receiving push gmail through the gmail app..only through
the messaging app.

I had the exact OPPOSITE problem, until last night. Have you gone to accounts... google, and made sure Gmail is set to sync? The Gmail app should sync if this is checked on. (With the messaging app, it wouldn't sync unless I created a generic email account for gmail inside of it. Now, they both work as they are supposed to.)

I was having the exact same problem. Turn the phone off and do a hard reset. (battery pull) it should be working after that. This is what fixed mine.

There's a lil spot at the bottom of the phone you can get a nail or something small in and pry it off. It can be tough at times
