Not New, But Still Need Some Advice

Thank you all for your input! I didn't list them since I haven't caught up with Android phones in a while... The LG G5 and Moto G5/G5 Plus are great options as well! I'm coming from a Lumia 650, so I'm not really looking for the best, highest specced phone. And the lack of NFC is not a miss, but is a nice bonus. So my new options are:

ZTE MAX
LG Stylo 3

Samsung Galaxy S6
Samsung Galaxy Note 5
LG G5
Moto G5

All great options! Luckily I'm looking to switching in the next couple of days more (just to enjoy it a bit longer) but I'll let you guys know whatI got!

Also, just checking up on the latest Android features and updates. How things have changed. Haven't used it since the days of Jelly Bean 4.3 - So cool!

@chanchan05 has a pretty good point....the S6 and Note 5 most likely won't get any new OS updates. Security updates might even be questionable. For the most part Samsung security updates are about every other month. And that's at best.

All that said....I am not sure what to suggest. Given the size of your current device, I think I would say the S6 or Moto G5. The reason is this: .5 an inch doesn't sound like much, but you are already changing OS environments....I think the last thing you need at the same time is a size change as well.

I think it would depend on carrier. I get the updates monthly on my S7E, and some people here are saying the S5 and Note4 still got security updates last July.

It does. I was trying to illustrate a somewhat reasonable update timeline that can be expected.

I actually switched phones almost 2 weeks ago now, but wanted to play with it for some time before deciding if I was to keep it. I got the LG K20 Plus. Personally I think it's a great midrange device, screeen is good, batterty life is awesome, got Nougat running with Oreo incoming (eventually, but I'll wait). Overall good value for the price, and of course I had to install a bunch of Microsoft apps, including the Edge preview... Some things I odn't like but that's due to Android and my habits with Windows. I'll get used to it. Definitey happy with this new phone!
