Not receiving some group messages/mms

I've had the nexus 6 for a little while but just started noticing that while in a group conversation I only receive messages from one person and absolutely nothing from the other. I've searched and searched for a solution but nothing Anyone know how I can fix this. Mostly everyone that I know has an iPhone. I had one as well but I made sure I turned off imessage before I switched to the Nexus.

Anyone sending you a message for the first time to your Nexus has to check the SMS thing. The iPhone is still going to be sending you iMessages (because that's what it saved the last time it sent you one). Once they do that the first time, the iPhone will send you SMS messages from then on. (Just turning iMessage off isn't enough - that makes the message go to your Android phone, but it's still being sent in iMessage format, which looks like garbage to an Android or Windows phone, so the phone just ignores it.)
