What makes you think all buyers can afford it?
Good point, sometimes I forget many people buy things they can't afford.
Nowhere near ready in what way, exactly?
It's a first generation device in the infancy of its design, if it even becomes a thing. The Galaxy Fold has a tiny screen when folded with giant bezels, when it's unfolded there's still a big cutout, it doesn't fold flat, the screens have to be made of plastic which means it's going to be a scratch magnet which is a joke for a 2000 dollar phone, probably can't use normal screen protectors because of the folding, and there is an obvious fold/wrinkle when you unfold the phone. That's going to be distracting as hell in my opinion.
The Huawei at least is a bezel-less design and has the smart idea of making the selfie camera utilize the rear camera instead so it can forego the main screen cutout, but the other issues are still there. Crappy plastic screen (that, on this one, is never protected when it's folded), obvious distortion/ripple in the center where it folds. I don't see a way they will ever fold flat because that would involve creasing the screen, so they're always going to be semi-clamshell. Not to mention the durability in general.
I just think it's a really stupid idea honestly. I mean in theory it's an awesome tech achievement, but for daily use? Completely stupid. People complain about the Note 9 size already, so now they're going to want to carry around a half inch thick phone instead that's still roughly the same length as the Note 9?
