No matter what I do, turn on or off the toggle when I unlock the phone and hit the volume button it only affects the media, not the ringtone, which is what I want. I have to expand the control box and manually touch the slider? Anyone have an idea of what gives?

Tap a side button to adjust the volume. While the volume slider is showing at the top of the screen, swipe down on it. It should show all of the different items that can be adjusted.

My need to reset settings
Go system settings >general management >reset >reset settings
Will put stock home screen back to stock if you customize it.

On my V60, this is a selectable option in the main volume settings, as shown in my screen shot. Check to see if your phone has this or something similar.Screenshots_2020-05-13-17-04-45.jpeg

So you're saying the toogle in the pull down menu doesn't change anything?

I am the OP and the toggle is off and still the media volume is controlled by the rocker. I put the toggle on, still the same. Turn it back off and no change.

It's off and I can't turn up the ringer without tapping the slider directly.

The only time I've seen this happen is if a media source is playing audio. Have you tried rebooting or safe mode to see if a rogue app didn't release the audio control properly?

Not yet, I reboot the phone daily, I'll try starting it in safe mode.
