I currently have an SM-N900W8 Note 3 and was looking to break free of the horrendous pebble blue that litters this great device ala TouchWiz.

Are there any ROMs out there that are capable of removing TouchWiz UI but maintaining S-Pen features? I'm new to the Android ecosystem and don't know much.

Any help is highly appreciated!

The S-Pen features are built into the TouchWiz framework. I'd recommend installing a TouchWiz based ROM, and then using xposed framework and the gravity box module to theme it to your liking. I', pretty sure you won't lose the features this way :)

You might want to try a different launcher instead of ROMming if all you dislike is the look. I suggest Nova Launcher (I went ahead and upgraded to Prime). There are lots of launchers that others can recommend.

I use Nova Prime and I love it. There are other aspects (ex. Quick Settings) that I'd like some control over.

Do ROMs skin/modify that as well?

I'm running Foxhound rom on 4.4.2 kitkat (Poland firmware) and it's great and keeps all the S-Pen Feature's. Let's you customise almost everything, and I have posted pics but can't remember threads oh if you look for Foxhound Rom thread you will get an idea, my Screenshots are in there.

You lose some of the features of the S-Pen with Nova

Xposed and Gravity Box will allow for a whole lot more than that :D

Which features? I seem to have full features with Go Launcher.

Also, I'm on a TouchWiz based ROM (Beans) and have full features as well. I used another, HyperDrive, which also made use of the S-pen.

The TouchWiz based ROMs won't lose the functionality of the S-Pen.
Not sure which ones don't work with Nova but I read a post somewhere saying that there was only a couple that didn't work

Right. I just wanted to put a fine point on what others had written regarding TW-based ROMs.

I'm curious about what functions Nova loses. I haven't found any in Go although I probably haven't tried every single function. That's why I asked.

I'd try, but I don't have a Note 3 to do it on lol

I read somewhere either here or on xda that Gravity Box doesn't play well with TouchWiz?

EDIT: Just did some more looking into it and I'm intrigued. Anybody know if Gravity Box lets me change the persistent stock TouchWiz quick settings in the notification tray?

Not sure if it doesn't work with TouchWiz, but I have seen TW-based ROMs like Infamous S4 have Xposed built into the ROM.
I know you can theme the status bar, but removing it depends on the module you use
