Note 3 Random Notification Sounds?

This was happening to me everyday since the kit kat updated. It keep getting worse and worse until finally I could not even stream anything without it doing it every 5 secs... Factory reset and the problem was gone.

Has anyone noticed this? I get a sound and when I check my notifications there is nothing there! And sometimes it will chime 3 or 4 times in a row with nothing on the notification. Is there a way to fix this?😟

I found it. It's a new feature in Kitkat called Notification Reminder. It defaults to 5 minutes when it's turned on.

Go to Settings, Device, Accessibility, and then to the "Vision" section. Turn off "Notification Reminder". DONE!

i'm finding that this happens when i get an email in my gmail "promotions" tab or "social" tab. since they aren't my main inbox they don't show up in the notification panel .....it is a tad irritating....

Go to Gmail> swipe from left edge in>settings>click on your account>manage labels. From there you can set which ones you want to show a label for!

I solved it!!! I struggled with this random alert for weeks. It seemed to go away but after some recent upgrades it came back with a vengeance! I finally realized a perfect solution and I can report have been random alert free all day (huge accomplishment). Here is what I did, actually pretty simple...I just changed my default alert tone to SILENT then went into each individual app that I wanted to receive notifications from and changed to a custom alert tone. Now I only hear alerts from the apps I set up customized alerts with, life is good again!

This drove me nuts until I checked my settings/accessibility/notification reminder settings - it was "on". Turn it "off" and this should do the trick. It fixed the problem.:D

Check in the accessibilty options in settings and check the notification reminder is switched off. Worked for me took me a while to work out. It's very annoying reaching for your phone every couple of minutes to find nothing there.
Edit didn't read full thread and posted, sorry

LOL, thanks for the tip regarding NFC causing the beep. After many hours of attempting to track down the app that was causing the random sounds. I was thinking that my Samsung Note 3 adopted a mind of of its own because it was out of my pocket while I watched the movie Short Circuit (just kidding). Long story short I purchased a case that had room for a credit card in it. The mag stripe on the credit card was just strong enough to randomly cause the NFC to kick in and make the phone beep. The issue was resolved by going to settings -> NFC and disabling it, or alternately carrying a card without a mag stripe. E.g. my health club card is RFID only and doesn't trip the NFC. --so now my phone (with the card in the case) opens the health club door.

It is pissing me off I need the reminder since I dont always hear the notification to begin with and the notification history program stays blank when it keeps going off. I even turned notification reminder off then back on hoping it would stop it but it didnt help I dont want to do a factory reset since there is so much stuff on my phone as well. I hope the real problem is found and it gets fixed. I am using a Samsung Galaxy s4 active android of course.

Check your settings > Device> Accessibility> Notification Reminder and turn it off.
This fixed my problem without having to factory reset.

I just bought a note 3 and have been loading apps and widgets, then I started to get the notification sound randomly. I noticed it was dinging on the quarter, half or on the hour exactly. I binned the black bar clock widget 1x4 clock (digital) All now fixed...........NEXT DAY...Not fixed at all Started again next evening on every 15 minutes on the hour, quarter, and half.... so I went to settings.>
general>accounts>email>settings>then on my selected email address and different settings came up and changed notification from postman to silent......ALL QUIET.... Next morning I went to check all those settings again for me to list them here and noticed that it was back on Postman not Silent.. So I decided to change to another ring tone for the email.. If it goes off again I will know if its from the email because of the new ring tone but if not I'll have the ding back....I'll keep you posted.

Re: Galaxy S5 Random Notification Sounds?

In response to some of your issues, I too have faced the same 'notification ringing' without a clue. That is, until I read a result by one of you kind people.
So far, and this is in the last 5 minutes that I haven't heard the 'ding', I went into my phones SETTINGS...ACCESSABILITY...and under the VISION heading I scrolled down to NOTIFICATION REMINDER. It was ON!!! AND, it was scheduled to ring every 5 minutes. Well, I completely turned it off, and so far, no ding. Will keep my fingers crossed, or, the hard reset is next.

Note 3 has a notification reminder option that will remind you of missed notification by continuing to beep in intervals that you set...This has been the reason for my notification beeps. You can find this option under settings / device / accessibility - if on - you can see the constant reminder applications your being notified of. Turn this off - and you will not be reminded repeatedly of missed notifications...Hope this helps...

Go to face book press on the world Icone just below it will say Notification and to the right is the gear sybol press on it scroll down to notification apps. Press it you will see apps like in my case yelp, pinterest, etc and they will be checked with a green check mark un check them all:)

should go away........

I think it's Google services. Note 3 is automatically equipped with a Google account and if you go into setting under notification at will say beep once or vibrate once. I shut mine off just now so we will see.

Go to the settings, device, accessibility, then turn off notification reminder. Drove me crazy for two days until I found this in the settings. Hasn't come back ever since.

YOU ARE A GOD!!!!!!
Had this problem for the last 3 days and i was going crazy. Was about to do a factory reset but im glad i kept reading through the posts.
