Note 3: Screen Protectors

Re: Screen Protectors

I think I might buy a tempered glass screen protector. So far the cheapest one with great reviews is the iloome screenmate brand. They also have a new flexible glass one. Both are on sale & shipping to Canada is cheap.

Galaxy Note 3 : Screen Protector : iloome

I have not heard that one,, 25 dollars is good but if I were you I would pay the extra 2 dollars and get a memi. So far I have not seen a bad review about it. They also give you a nice discount if you ever need it replaced.

Anyone try Ghost Armor. I used it on my old iPhones with success but if I recall, they are thicker than the normal ones you are all buying.

I had ghost armor on the Note 2. It adds a little drag to the S Pen, but otherwise is one of the better film products. After some time, it will scratch.

Currently using the iLoome flex glass product. It's about 1/3 the thickness of tempered glass, but it has the same properties, although a little less tempered and slightly less surface hardness. At $16, it's a good value while it's on sale.

Re: Screen Protectors

I have used Spgien Glas.tR and I have a BodyGuardz both are Tempered Glass screen protectors. Right now I have the BodyGuardz on my Note 3. The Glas.tR Slim is just a backup. I had originally ordered with iLoome, but the delay was going to put my order a week plus past getting my phone so I had to cancel. The MIME version I didn't like how much open space was at the top of the phone so I didn't get that one.

Re: Screen Protectors

Just installed my memi finally. Perfect install. Taped it in perfect position on one side to create the Hinge effect,,, peeled back off and just put it on in perfect position.

Open space at top? It's open just enough not to mess with the speaker and the sensors and camera lens.

Re: Screen Protectors

I'm using a Zagg HD Case Friendly screen protector. No issues here. S-Pen works great. But I did order a pack of iSmooth HD screen protectors too. I order iSmooth for every phone I have owned.

Is that the tempered ghost glass one?

Re: Screen Protectors

I'm using Super Shieldz I found on eBay, first tried it on LG G2 and was very happy with the price & quality so I ordered it for my Note 3, iPhone 4S & 5S. It's the only screen protector I/we use.

It's less than $10 shipped and depending of the model/phone you get 3-6 in the package. . I used to spend $20, $30 on Clarivue, I will never pay more than $10 for accessories.

That's the one I use,, the ghost glass from memi. Third phone I have used it and love it. They offer a nice discount if you ever need it replaced so they stand by their product.

I have been using an extra iSmooth screen protector I had for my note 2 because I didn't have any others when first getting the note 3. It has worked great with the spen. No issues. I will probably order the note 3 specific ones unless I decide to get tempered glass. Does tempered glass really do a much better job of protecting the screen from cracking when dropped?
Btw, don't confuse iSmooth with iLoome. I was doing that when first reading about screen protectors because the names are similar.

Re: Screen Protectors

I just bought a tempered glass screen protector by Supershieldz for $10 including shipping. In my haste, I ordered one without doing my due diligence. I saw someone on Amazon and Ebay with this product, which I thought the person above--Bembol--had been talking about the product in glowing terms. Additionally, because it was only $10 and it was already in Philadelphia, I pulled the trigger. The product wasn't listed on their Amazon store but it was on an Ebay store of the same name, so I had to go that route.

However, when I realized that I had misread Bembol's post, I tried to locate another review. That didn't exactly pan out as planned, because I cannot even find a manufacturer website or any retailers that carry them. Right now I am expecting either low-quality merchandise or to just be completely taken for a $10 ride. I'll update with more information when I get my hands on it.

I'll probably end up shelling out for a Mime or something, but I will at least wait to see what I get. It may be legitimate for all I know, but the more I think about it, the less legit it seems. Here is the listing on Ebay:

From the cheap price, in reading your post, I was thinking you got the same one I got cheap on Ebay. However, as soon as I saw the pic with the fancy case, we don't have the same cheap ones off ebay.

My cheap Tempered Glass for the Note 3, came just with protective wrapping, a sticker telling you which side is the adhesive side, and a small patch of cloth.. However, not like the review you read, I am tickled pink with this cheap Glass.. $8.55 shipped from a USA seller. Got it in 3 days.. Had it for over a week, and it working nicely. I had a Spigen, and to be honest, it might have been a bad install on my side. Either way, I returned the Spigen and was looking for one of the other name brands, when I ran across this on Ebay..

Premium Tempered Glass Screen Protector Film for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM N9000 | eBay

I purchased two on them. One from a USA seller for $8.55 shipped, and one from Hong Kong seller for $7.48 shipped..

Again, a week down the line and so far it is great..

Yea, the only reason I am suspect is because I don't really see anyone with that "brand" except the guy I bought from. It is possible that there are multitude of suppliers who repackage an identical product produced by a single manufacturer, though I have no evidence that this is the case. It does give me a little hope that someone is pleased with an equivalent product and a similar price point.

Whether or not it will be the same as yours, or another satisfactory product, remains to be seen.

Re: Screen Protectors

Update on supershieldz note 3 glass screen protector:

Haven't tried to install it because it appears to have been poorly manufactured. The sizing and alignment seem to be off. If I were to go ahead and install, it would look like a half assed effort and would totally destroy the aesthetic elegance of the phone. It may or may not provide functional protection.

I will try to take pictures of it with my phone to demonstrate the discrepancies between the two. I cannot imagine this was a build to spec job. It is closer to an eyeball estimation, which simply doesn't cut it. I am also thinking that it may be for another phone--Note 2 or the original Note, perhaps?

I don't know if it is worth the time and energy to send it back and get the refund. I would hazard to it isn't, at least according to my experiences in dealing with eBay/PayPal, so I will probably just eat the $10 loss. I should have gone with something from a more reputable vendor initially. Caveat emptor, you get what you pay for.

I suppose I'll look at some of the name brand providers--Mime, BodyGuardz, Spigen, iLoome, and Armorz are who I've come across so far. If anyone knows of any other brands that produce a legit product, please throw some names out there.

Regards,
Pat

Re: Screen Protectors

Went back to give the one I bought for $10 a second look. It still certainly didn't look like it had been precision made, but it wasn't as bad as I first thought--though it was still garbage aesthetically. I decided to give it a shot, at least to serveas cursory protection measure that would work until I was able to have a better one installed. I used the tape-hinge method, but the adhesive was almost non-existent. It also seemed to flex slightly, enough to allow for bubbles. I just got annoyed at that point and took it straight off.

I am thinking it will be much easier if I go to AT&T, shell out $45 for a BodyGuardz glass screen protector and have the staff put it on for me. For the extra expense, I don't have to wait or worry about messing it up. I don't have time for this anymore, for $20 extra, I'll let the experts handle it (and assume liability).

Re: Screen Protectors

I used to be sold on the Spigen product line. The glass screen protectors there are very expensive and also very thick for the Note 3 so, I tried the slimmer design called Iloome Flex Screen Protector. The stylus functionality remains unchanged and the installation was just as easy as the Spigen was. So far I would recommend this product. The Iloome was under $20.
