Note 3 sudden loss of apps, contacts and all functions

My note 3 has developed a sudden loss of all functions. I took it out of my pocket to fing Samsung logo on the screen. The screen had locked and none of the buttons were working. I took the back off, removed the battery and sim then reversed the process. On switching on it took all of 5mins to move on from the "starburst" Samsung logo to my home page. Many of my apps had gone as had all my contacts. On top of this, any remaining apps are not responding and stating Process failed" these include email, text and Google.

I have tried to reboot many times with no success

Use App Backup & Restore to back up your apps ... read Backing up an Android Device to back up everything.

Then bring it to your carrier (or Samsung if you live in the US or the UK - Best Buy in the US, Cellphone Warehouse in the UK) and ask if they can reflash the ROM. Then restore everything.
