Note 3: touch screen problem when using S pen.

Re: touch screen problem when using S pen.

Yessss.. i was having the same problem with my new note 3.. having a blind spot at the middle right of the phone .. thinking its broken and i was about to return it for replacement.. but then i googled it looking for solution.. it gave me the link to this forum .. lucky me im not the only one too.. so i removed the case and happly it turned out to be the magnet of the case .. now i can use the s pen every where in the screen with out having a blind spot or shaky area in the screen.. thank u guys for bringing the issue up. :)

Yup. Cases reviews on Amazon attest to that.

Re: touch screen problem when using S pen.

I have the opposite of the problem you guys are discussing. My Note 3 touch screen wont respond to the finger but works with the S pen. I had it reformated (or whatever you call it) and it worked but then the same problem came back. right now it only works with S pen. What to do, what to do!!!

Re: touch screen problem when using S pen.

Hi! I'm so happy to find this thread. I have the same problem and I don't know what to do about it. I have been changing Phones 4 times now and they all have had the same problem (the store say I'm the only one who had returned the phone with this problem). When I'm using my fingers it's working but with the pen it's not :(...

Re: touch screen problem when using S pen.

Same problem. Looks like the magnetic closure on the case. I have a Note 3 with a Case Mate Slim Folio Case. The dead spot is exactly where the magnetic closure goes. It only affects the S-pen in that spot, not use of a finger. Getting a case without a magnet, and hope it clears up.

Re: touch screen problem when using S pen.

nearly the same problem here...when i try to draw a line vertically from top right side of the screen to the low right side..somewhere in the middle the line deforms :(
my phone is like it has a fat vertical line to the right side that's a blind spot.
Bought it 2 days ago and was so excited..had to give it back for some kind of inspection or w/e.. I really hope that its some kind of software failure and not a hardware issue and maybe for a replacement..
so any news on this issue yet?

Well my phone came back really quick from official Samsung Service (it took them about 1 day) which was nice but the papers that came with it said that they had to replace the s-pen..and also had to install a brand new screen!!!!! which was kind of dissapointing because it was a brand new 2 day device..
Anyway at least now it works very very smoothy and you can't even tell that the screen was replaced ,it's as good as an out of the box one..oh, and by the way the more I'm working with it the more I find out how great a Note 3 is :)

ah..also the guy on the store that sold me the phone said something about that "the s-pen caused that problem.." (well don't know how that is possible..)

hope this helps!

Re: touch screen problem when using S pen.

I put that steelie magnet on the back of my spigen case, I have been writing with the s-pen and noticed the circle. it took me a day and a half to realize it was the magnet that I had on my case that was messing with the pen. Take the case off, all is well.

Yes! Exactly the same, in exactly the same spot on the screen, same size and everything. I noticed I couldn't use the pen there in the sticky note app so I opened the sketch app like you did and got the same results. I'll go test it with that diagnostic tool in the settings that was mentioned earlier.

OMG! Yes it's just the magnet on my phone case/wallet. I took my phone out and tested it on the sticky note app. My faith in note 3 has been restored:-P ..user error lol. Still the best phone ever, had it for 7 months now and am still in love.

I am having the same issue with touch screen. Is there a way for me to get this resolved? I did reset and still have the same problem. The only thing that works is my stylus pen.

Any suggestion?

Hello. Welcome to Android Central.

I don't know if anyone solved this issue with the touch screen not working but the S-Pen does.

If no one responds try a starting a new thread.
You can do tests on Note 3's that are not carrier locked by dialing *#0*#, but it won't offer a solution.

Try toggling the sensitivity button on and off, and check this thread, but there isn't much there. You may have a hardware screen digitizer thingy fault, I don't know.

Yes - the problem for me has been the magnet attached to the rear of my case which is part of the very cool Steelie Nite Ize auto support bracket on my dashboard. Sadly have to remove it, and when done - no problem with stylus!
