Same thing has happening to my note 4 very disappointed.. . But it seems to be the finger print scanner I think I've turned it off and it hasn't crashed I'll report back tomorrow after a full day

And too note I've been dealing with this for a few days and this had been the only thing that has worked my son also had the same issue please let me know of your using the finger scanner

I too have this issue, and I do use the FP scanner. I think this is a SPRINT only issue though.

Turn it off ever since I turned it off my phone has been flawless no more freezing

I'm not sure if it's just a sprint issue or not I think that other people are having this problem but most people don't used to fingerprint scanner anyway I hope it's fixed in the next update I'm sure they already know about it

Sprint Note 4 here. I also use the fingerprint scanner. Here is what fixed mine after the 5.1.1 update:

go to settings: Display & Wallpaper. Uncheck Smart Stay.

No issues since, it's been over a week.

Nope.

I have never enabled Smart Stay and it happens to me all the time.

I am also with sprint. It definitely has to do with the fingerprint scanner but i dont have smart stay enabled.

It is when I turn back on it started crashing again it's unstable hope they fix it

I never enabled smart stay either. However the sprint 5.1.1 update that I downloaded turned it on.

my phone is doing the same thing... fast charging also stopped working takes 6-8 hours to charge the phone now like its going through a USB port on my computer.

That sucks I did purchase a galaxy note 5 & I also have a galaxy s6 but I'm very disappointed in my note 4 because I planned on it to my wife it's working very well fast and stable without the fingerprint scanner on whatever reason is unstable now

I turned off the FP scanner and went to PIN, that didn't help. But when I went to Pattern and did a cache clear, my phone is flawless again and the battery life is WOW. Almost 48 hrs on one charge with 3+hrs of SOT.

I believe it's been since the latest update pushed from AT&T that I've began to see this particular problem, and it's annoying the **** out of me...

The problem is the screen will turn off, like I hit the power button myself and not acting like a screen timeout. I can tell the difference since the notification for the screen turning off happens, plus when I immediately hit the home button it sends me to the swipe screen, as if I locked the screen with the power button push. Normally if the screen timed itself off I have a few moments to turn back on without having to swipe again. This issue happens randomly. I can be on the device for 30 minutes and it behaves, but then I can have the screen turn itself off 3 times in a 3 minute period. I've even seen the screen get turned off during full-screen video playback on YouTube or Facebook. I don't have a case on the device and it's happened in my hand, on the table, plugged up to AC/DC plug and wireless charging. I don't know if an application isn't playing good with the latest software upgrade, or if it's a software update glitch. I wish there is some log that registers power button commands and who requested it.

As many of us are having this issue I had to disable the fingerprint scanner and the crashing stopped it's a bug in 5.1.1

I've never had Smart Screen or the fingerprint option setup.
