Note 4 ... SD Card ... what to choose

I bought samsung pro 64gb sd card as well. Did the not want 128gb due to writing speed and reading speed being so low. San disk extreme pro 64gb sd is a unicorn and is over a hundred bucks if you can find it!
BTW.... I bought it on Amazon sold by Amazon with prime for $52.00 now it's over $70.00 with shipping not sold by Amazon.

128gb is just fine.
Samsung will sell a lot of Samsung branded 64gb chips if they (falsely) claim it only handles 64gb. If they claimed the truth, that it handles 128gb, then more people would be buying Sandisk 128gb chips.

So was the Samsung 64GB EVO a good card to get or should I have gotten something else?

I posted the exact one I got a few posts back. I'm new to the SD in phones (was iPhone user) so I hope I got a good one.

That will work great. I have used that card before, and will use it again.

I'm betting no, there won't be a bottleneck. Maybe for things like a DSLR or something but with the new version of Android you can't put much on the SD card anyway. Photos and Music some apps maybe with root idk, that's about it to my knowledge.

Unless you need to read/write from the card almost in real time every second I don't see any need for the pro. Our cards are more for storage than for putting things on/off the card in real time.

Oh here's a link about the EVO vs PRO

Very good points/info.

A lot of people think because they moved part of, or maybe one app to the sd card, that all apps can be moved to the sd card.. IMO, no way. I use my sd card storage for movies, personal vids, pictures and music..I heard the Notes can't read but 30something so that 90 or higher, IMO, can't be utilized. I have been using the Sandisk 64gb Ultra, no problems whatsoever. I think people that have problems, could have one of those fakes, don't format the card in the phone, and/or disconnect when writiing...

I got the 128, that is overdamkill to be truthful. That $31.99 deal for 64gb sd class 10 is the best deal going IMO. I paid 3 times and more for the 128, and I don't have 3 times space or 3 times the performance of the 64gb. However, I do have 128gb BRAGGING RIGHTS!!

I wonder what data rate the 4K video streams to the SD card. BTW I have a Sandisk 64G Ultra card in my Note 2 that quit writing to the card at about 40Gig full. A call to sandisk, broke the old one in half had a new one in a week. 10 year warranty from what I understand.

Does anyone know if Samsung has plans to make 128GB card? After having 3 Sandisk sd cards fail in my old S4, no way will I be getting a 128GB from them.

For the op the EVO was a good choice as my experience has told me that you need a good micro SD card. I have a Sony xperia z2 and it complained the first time I tried to do a 4k video that my micro SD wasn't up to snuff and that I should use internal memory. My Sony branded micro sd card wasn't good enough and the 4k video I recorded came out choppy, sound fading in and out and like crap.

That taught me that I needed decent write speed on that micro SD card to do 4k recording. True enough a change to a speedier SD card and the problem went away. But now I have brought an EVO & Pro to go with my coming Note 4 that problem won't happen again.

I have been looking at the exact same one too and the pro version. I really wanted to just go for it and get a 128 gb but samsung doesn't have one yet.

I just bought a 128gb Sandisk Ultra Class 10 (newest version) on Amazon, signed up for Amazon's credit card (no annual fee) and got a $60 discount on the SD card. It cost me $59 out the door! Always used sandisk in my Samsung phones with no issue. Lexar card crashed and burned.

For those saying SanDisk don't play well with Samsung devices, that is 100% false... Samsung would like you to believe that though. - I've had 3 Samsung phones, never had a problem with SanDisk on any of them - used a 16gb, 32gb, and a 64gb - all of them still fully functional.

Having said that, I would still suggest the Samsung branded cards right now, their prices have come down across the board. Amazon is having excellent sales on the 64gb (probably what I'm going with)

It looks different than the one on Samsung's website.

Also, this is a Q&A from the Amazon page:
Will the Sumsung 64GB PRO SDXC work in a Galaxy Note 2 smartphone?
No, this is a full size SDXC card, not a Micro SDXC card.

The Micro SDXC version of this card is here:

When you said it didn't look like "micro", I am refering to FORM FACTOR, when I stated "it is micro".. Was NOT talking about brand!! :)

I agree 1000% too. I have had several 64gb Sandisk Ultra micro sd cards in several tablets and phones. Never a problem.

Plus, this is what I have now, the 128gb, latest version.. Oh boy, I got 128gb bragging rights!! :D
