Note 4 ... SD Card ... what to choose

I got the Samsung evo on sale for 30 bucks on Amazon. I heard the pro is only a benefit if you transfer files a lot and need the super fast speed.

Samsung Electronics 64GB PRO Micro SDXC with Adapter Upto 90MB/s Class 10 Memory Card (MB-MG64DA/AM)

I just ordered this card as well from Amazon for $52.00, I was at Best Buy and they wanted $129.00, wow, what a mark up.
This is Samsung best and fastest sd card with Adapter available up to 90mb, samsung phones and SanDisk do not play well together. This Samsung sd card is very expensive 64 org price is $89.99 but you can find for around $60.00 now. I purchased the 32 for my note 3 from amazon, check amazon they always have them on sale.

I talked to the Samsung rep at BB the other day and she mentioned that Samsung allows her to mention Sandisk when suggesting micro sd cards. I NEED a 128gb card, I'm a space hog and want it for bragging rights

Don't you think 160 GB of space is overkill for the note 4?

I loaded the Sandisk Ultra 128gb sdxc class 10 and it works flawlessly. Bought from Newegg for about $119

Does anyone know the read/write speeds for the Note 4? This would be extremely helpful:)

I've been hoping someone would be able to answer this as well, I have checked all over google but couldn't find the answer. I wanna know if getting the samsung evo with the 48mb/s would be good enough for 4k recordings and movie playback etc. and if the note 4 can even write as fast, also wanted to know if the samsung pro with 90mb/s read and 80mb/s write even necessary for the note 4?

If you got the note then that means you believe in the mantra "go big or go home", that being said.....I am just going to move mine from my Note 3 to my Note 4. I've seen it on sale for as low as $100.

Some info for some.. I got the note 4 a few days ago.. For people that dont know or understand the read and write times thrown all over the place is what the card is capable of. It is NOT what you will get in all your devices.

I have the sammy 64G Pro which is capable of 90r/80w... but that would be on pc with usb 3 or so. The phones are not UHS-1 which allows us to use that speed. My note 4 gets with A1 SD benchmark

Internal 32 GIG= READ: 211.96MB/s WRITE: 129.71MB/s (DAMN!)

External(which is internal in a way) 64GIG= READ: 59.92MB/s WRITE: 19.93 MB/s

From what I have been reading it seems rare to find anything on a phone that will get past the 20MB/s.. Since the note 4K records at 5-6 ish MB/s it looks like any class 10 should be fine. As for the person getting issues with their 128 I would try the format thing and tray again.. or maybe its bad. who knows. If my maf is right my 64 gig should get close to 2.7 hours of recording which is not that much. maybe I should have went big... I woulkd like to hear more from people with the 128gig 4K abuse it and let us know of lag or issues.

Sorry I'm kinda new with sd cards, always had ios and never had to use any on my other devices, but for our note 4, comparing the samsung 64gb evo and pro sdxc, is there a big difference for the average user who is mainly using the external card for media purposes? Recording and viewing 4k, taking and viewing pics, music, or watching movies off the sdxc?

No worries.. I used to be an apple fanboy from the start till I got tired of waiting for a larger phone back in 2010. Anyway, allot of what I just posted was some of the new stuff I read about not too long ago. As for your question I doubt you will see any difference which ever you choose. Once its in the phone it will be more then enough as long as you dont get the few bad apples.. haha

Thanks for the info, what are the bad apples that you are referring to? Bad sd cards that some people say they are having troubles with either read or write?

just like anything made your going to have DOAs or things with issues. It may not be a clear cut issue out of the box so test everything you can. I have been lucky in the SD department. out of all the times I think I only had one go bad on me, but lucky I did a back up not to long ago. I have always stayed with the main brands with SD cards. Watch out for the Chinese knockoffs and back up often.

i bought the samsung evo 64 gb, which format should i go for ? only see 2 option on window (exFat vs NTFS)

That is what i did... they were cool about it

I would like to thank everyone for the advice. I decided to go with the Samsung Pro 64 GB. This is 4 times more room than I have now. This will work till they come out with a 128 gb micro card that is better price. Then I'll give this one to the hubby. And I'll get me a 128 GB. Now with that...Bowhunter I seen it the other day for $52 also but....I found the card on Amazon today for $44.99 and Best Buy matched no problems (we were by one today and I picked it up). Yes siree only $45 bucks for the PRO card. I was thrilled. And just to mention, the rep at Best Buy repeated what I have heard several people, she said in their experience there at Best Buy, the Samsung Card just seems to work better with Samsung products. She said you could use the other brands, they have just noticed some better performance using Samsung especially the Pro version. So now all I need is my NOTE 4 from Verizon. I love my Note 3 which like I said is going to stay with but my hubby is getting it, and the Note 4 is coming to me whoooohoooooo.

You should not have to format the micro SD card for use in an Android phone. If you do format use extFat. My understanding is that Android OS doesn't do NFTS which is a MS Windows specific file format.
