Note 5 Advanced messaging not fully active yet?

So I have the Galaxy Note 5 and just how it came out of the box I was able to use the advanced texting feature with my friends that own the Note 5 as well. But after the two updates released from T-Mo, it turned off. Even on my s6 that just got the update also. My question is, does it have to do with my tower in my area since my signal isn't all that, yet. And I do have VoLTE on and so does my friends. The "read" part and "typing" disappeared although the option is on, in the messages settings.
