Note 5 not able to use the remaining storage of external usb

Got Note 5, using Sandisk Ultra dual USB drive 128 GB. been working perfectly up till it reached half its capacity. Now I'm getting a message that the storage is full when I try to move things to the USB drive, although it shows about 64 GB still free for the USB drive.

Cant figure out what to do, any help?

I have to ask, did you get that drive from a reputable seller (Amazon doesn't count here) or at a lower price than would seem normal for that capacity? There are a LOT of knock-offs out there, and they usually are lower capacity than they are listed as. Sometimes 1/2 sometimes even less. It could be that the physical storage on that external drive is really only 64gb, even though it's been flashed to read 128, and the phone sees it as faulty.
