AC Question

On the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 how do I convert handwriting to text?

On my old Note 3 I could open S Note and just start writing a note, then select the lasso and select the handwriting that I wanted to convert, and select to convert to text, then it would usually convert everything flawlessly. On my new Note 5 I can't figure out how to convert the handwriting to text.

Can someone please help me out with this?

Is there an application that I can download to put on my note 4

Currently I am using samsung keyboard note 3/10.1 from the app store which I believe came pre-installed on my note 4

I was hoping to use something that is more updated.....

Thank you

For those who can't get the extension to convert handwriting to text, do the following:

1) Open S Note (close it altogether if it is already open and reopen it)
2) Confirm that the extension is loaded
a) Go to MORE in the upper right corner
b) Click More features
c) Confirm that the Extension Pack (first in the list) is installed - there should be a red "Installed" indicator under it if it is. If it is not installed, then install it.
d) Go back one screen to the opening S Note screen
3) On the opening S Note screen, click the "All" drop down in the upper left corner and then select "Notes" in the menu that appears.
4) Add a new note by clicking the pen on the lower right corner.
5) Remove the S Pen and select the pen input icon in the upper left corner (if it is not already selected).
6) Write some text on the screen.
7) Select the selection icon (the dashed cloud-looking figure in the middle of the top toolbar).
8) Select the text you just wrote - a context menu will then appear when you're done selecting.
9) On the context menu, select transform.
10) On the second context menu, select "Text".

Your handwriting is now converted to text. Maybe my handwriting is a bit poor because it tends to not be too great in transforming it. But, it is close enough.

I downloaded the extension pack and can do multiple new things. But am still unable to "pen to text". I can magnify what I'm penning, draw shapes and them be corrected...can record my drawing/writing. But I can't transform my penning to text.

I know I'm late to the party but maybe someone else is still trying to figure it out. Open anything that uses Samsung keyboard hit the settings button, scroll all the way down and turn Pen Detection on. That's it! When the pen is out it offers you a window to write in instead of the keyboard. Wrote this response with it.

I go to the more features option and click install, bit it says waiting. And that's it. It's like it's stuck in that mode. So it seems like I'm unable to download this. What's the issue?

What is the link to the extension pack. I have note 4 and can not get the extension window up so I can select text.
I only have 4 choices Properties, Cut, Copy and Delete. No selection box?
This drives me mad
Please help?

The extension pack is an option of S Note, so you just open the app. and from there select the more button in the upper right corner (If it is available on the 4).

This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!

I got this to work, but it seems awfully cumbersome. I had a note 7 for a few days before the recall and it automatically converted handwriting to text as I wrote. I wish I could find the same functionality for the note 5.
