Note 5 vs iPhone 6s

Re: Should I get the iPhone 6s Plus or Note 5?

Good point but u have to mention the carrier part too. With Apple, everybody is updated and if their is issues with certain updates, they send out bug fixes to again, EVERYBODY!

Android, it's a soup kitchen line of people waiting for their update. Sprint people, next, T-Mobile.............Verizon......etc. android M is coming out soon right? When will the Note 5 get it?, oh yeah close to Note 6 release. I wouldn't get a phone based on updates, I'm just saying. Great perspective tho, just some other points I wanted to add in.

Re: iPhone 6s plus or note 5

found this on AT&T web site

SideSync | Samsung

works with PC, mac version says "coming soon"

that will take care of pictures and docs etc.

Google music has an app for mac ( and I am sure for PC too i would guess )

looks at itunes and puts ALL your music on google for free. you can Pin it to phone so its pre downloaded instead of streaming if you want.

Both OSs are great, one is not better than the other, they Both of pros and cons. I have both, prefer note 99% of the time.

iPhone does a few things better, like handling video in a link, and messaging. Can't go wrong with Note 5. FAST.

Re: iPhone 6s plus or note 5

Really would like some help in deciding what phone to get.

Samsung had a program where iPhone owners could "test drive" the Note 5 for 30 days, for $1!

I would think that that program is still running... you should check if it's available with your carrier.

It shows what confidence Samsung has in their newest phones, that they'll let prospective buyers test drive the phones for a full month!

By the way... I've had my Note 5 since it was released (well, Verizon actually sent it out three days earlier then the release date), and I absolutely love it!

The program is still on but they havent had any phones available for a while now. Not sure if they are getting any back in

Thanks to all for your replies. I think I am going to wait on the ip6+ reviews to come out since I don't have to change phones right away.

Wait for the real user reviews. The tech websites are going to to say its the greatest thing since sliced bread. 90% of them are Apple biased

Re: iPhone 6s plus or note 5

Both are great devices but it comes down to which OS you prefer. I was with iPhone for 5 years and made the switch from the iPhone 5 to the Samsung Galaxy S5 a little over a year, then within 6 months got the Note 4 and just picked up the Note 5 almost 2 weeks ago. For me I love the customization that Android offers, iOS is so locked down that it drove me nuts... and I jailbroke every Apple device I had. There is a little learning curve with the Android system if you are not familiar with it already but this is true with anything that is new to you, once you understand it though you will have no problems.

As far switching and bringing over your content I used Samsung SmartSwitch Samsung Smart Switch™: Transfer Contacts, Music & More You can sync from the cloud, itunes or the phone. When I did it you could select which type of content you wanted to bring over (music, contacts, pictures), I selected everything and it even brought over my notes and all of my text messages. Before you do this, in iTunes make sure you download any music you purchased to the computer first, then run the software. Good luck.

Re: So there is 0 people here waiting to see what the iPhone 6S Plus will be like before buying Note

Definitely note 5

Re: iPhone 6s plus or note 5

I just made the switch back to Android today! I left an iPhone 6 for a Galaxy Note 5. I'm loving the note already and I've used the S pen more than I'd thought. I'll get a better idea of how it'll be in a week or so. So far, glad to be back.

Re: iPhone 6s plus or note 5

iOS instant updates can be a bait and switch at times, sometimes heralding a new feature with fanfare ie. "except not on your model of iPhone, sorry"
Often they can also be a total non-event. ie. "this year we bring you flat icons by Jony Ives! yaaaay!"

This year it's an overhyped version of screen long-press. :-\

Re: iPhone 6s plus or note 5

A few points:

  • Apple has more than one OS update a year just like Android. You get the big number jump and then point releases throughout the year. You'll get those point releases on iOS much faster than you will from Samsung (especially if you get a carrier branded Note 5).
  • If you're going to sell the device at all the iPhone will retain it's value longer than the Note 5.
  • iTunes is not required for everything. In fact, the only reason I used iTunes is because I wanted a local backup of my device.
  • The Note 5 does feel great and the screen/bezel ratio is amazing. You do get a really large screen in a smallish device (smaller than you would expect for a 5.7" display).
  • The Note 5 has a great camera, but it's not perfect. It seems to have trouble with white balance with artificial lighting. It can also have some issues with overall resolution (I take a lot of pictures of our two new kittens and the hair is never resolved properly).
  • I have little doubt that the new camera on the iPhone will be one of the best you can get on any device, but will obviously reserve final judgement until they're in the hands of real people.

Re: iPhone 6s plus or note 5

I'd probably get the iPhone. There's a few things that annoy me with the note 5. But I really enjoy the S-pen.

I don't like when I have finger print scanner as unlock I can't quick reply to text.
I don't like I can't listen to podcast/music and tell Google to call or text someone without unlocking.
While I listen to podcast and I receive a call both music and the caller play simultaneously.
Battery is horrific, be prepared to disable a lot of stuff.
My original headphones don't work. Trying to get them replaced is a PITA.

I'm sure there are fixes for all my issues. But I don't feel like researching for ever to find out how to get my phone work... The way it should.

I used android for years and never thought of using the iPhone. I tried the 6+ and find the iPhone is a superior device for me. Everything really does just work. Lol. Hassle free.

I did have issues with my iPhone, but it got replaced with a new one. If my note 5 has an issue, I'd have to send it away. I'll probably get a ****ty blackberry as loaner... Or nothing at all. Get android you have to deal with the carriers. So be prepared to put up a fight for your 800+ dollar phone.

However the note 5 is still an awesome phone. I adjusted to the annoyances. Will probably get the next iphone. But damn the S-pen is sooooo useful.

checkout my thread "Loving it" to see why I chose the Note 5. It is a better value, in my honest opinion.

Re: iPhone 6s plus or note 5

Test drive the iPhone on tmobile through that test drive program while you test the note 5 on your carrier for the two weeks. use both for the two weeks return the iPhone and if you like the iPhone return the note 5 on your carrier ant take the iPhone or just keep the note 5 past the 14 days

Re: iPhone 6s plus or note 5

A big mistake people make with Android is confusing true customization with just making pretty home screens when it means so much more than that. You can do hundreds of things with Android that an iPhone will never do. The capability Android gives 3rd party developers to customize not how you make your homescreen look but how you use your phone on Android OS is the secret sauce. And you don't need instant OS updates to do that. I could make a huge list of these things you can do on an Android device that an iPhone will never be able to do and perhaps someday I will.

Capability comes at a cost. You're not going to get an Android phone that works quite as smoothly as an iPhone but the question is, for the big gulf in capabilities between the two do you really friggin' care that much? Well therein lies the rub - if all you do is social network and surf and other light casual tasks, well then maybe you do! But if you really want power at your fingertips for much more than that, it's a different story altogether now isn't it. That's what you have to decide for yourself. There are high quality Android phones out there that are extremely well made and optimized. It's those who make wrong purchasing choices for ones that aren't who come away with a bitter taste in their mouths.

I say this as someone who uses Android as a daily driver but also has family members in house with Apple devices. I know firsthand their iPhones run smoother and more reliably than my phones have year after year. Without question! But my phone runs circles around those for the things I do. Can I use Kodi on an unbroken iPhone? Hell no. File operations? Limitless app interoperability? Apps like Link bubble/Flynx? Torrents? as for automation, Siri is still not only a pale comparison to Google Now integration, even MS's Cortana surpasses it. bear in mind I'm only naming the tip of the iceberg...

Instant updates on iOS basically give you a tenth (being generous) of the things you can do on Android waiting 4-5 months for a core OS update, and that's thanks to the nature of Android OS and the ability for 3rd party developers to create things with it. Not to mention most of the core capabilities of Android have been moved to Play Services where they can be updated notwithstanding OS version.

Re: iPhone 6s plus or note 5

I just switched from the 6+ to the Note 5 and haven't looked back and here's why.

Ever since the iPhone came to Verizon I've had the 4, 4s, 5s and the 6+. Toward the last two iPhone devices I got tired of dealing with iTunes. I don't miss iTunes and its great transferring pictures from my laptop over to my Note 5 with no hassles, making ringtones on the spot without transferring it over to iTunes, etc.

The only thing I miss about the iPhone is iMessage but its something I can live without.

+1000

Excellent post.

I say this as well... I honestly have never understood anyone complaining about having to tweak a Android phone except for those who prefer to use a iPhone.

If they feel that they shouldn't have to change anything and use it as it comes from the box, they really should consider staying with a locked os phone like the iPhone or a Windows phone.

Android is about having control ( for the most part) just as jailbreaking is for the iPhone.

Funny thing is folks who complain never try to improve the experience or performance for 1 reason or another and just complain about it.
