Note 5 vs iPhone 6s

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

Maybe. But then you come to the Android forums. And you hear everyone's testimony with other devices. And you may come across features that other Android smartphones have that your iPhone does not. And you are intrigued. A few YouTube videos. A trip to Bestbuy to check it out in person. And all of a sudden your mind starts to work out scenarios on how you can obtain a brand new device. You can open another line. Switch carriers because they will pay your ETF or the remainder of your financing agreement. The scene is set, and all you need is an excuse. Then you read an article on iMore that Apple servers are down. iMessage is temporarily not working. Justification and the timing is perfect. So you pick up your new Android phone. New case, screen protector, wireless charger. This is the phone you needed, you read wanted. You have switched over all of your services to Google. You are on the forums at Android Central. Life is good. You look at your iPhone and wonder why you bought it in the first place. Because clearly the Android phone you now have is where you were supposed to be all along. Then... out of the blue, your girlfriend wants to FaceTime you for some "adult time ". You can't. And she doesn't want to go through the rigmarole of downloading Hangouts and accepting your invitation and so forth. Moment ruined. Someone sends you a pic, it doesn't come through because you are in your office with no signal just wifi. If you had iMessage the picture would have come through fine. You are still within your 14 day window is the thought that pervades your mind. You toil with it. You don't want to switch yet again. People have already noticed you have gone back to Android after a brief stint with your iPhone. You may have even bashed the iPhone a bit on the forums. You had already successfully changed your signature to something cool like, "Note in my house!" Can't switch back now. But you are bothered. Day 13, you take your phone back. A day early just in case you have counted your days wrong. You get the iPhone. Again. Different color this time so it doesn't feel like the exact phone you left 13 days earlier. Case, screen protector, out the door. First thing you do? Fire up IMore. first article, Batterygate. Ugh.

The struggle is real.

This is honestly one of the best posts I've ever read. Luckily for me, I don't have a girlfriend. I'm married with two kids - so "adult time" is few and far between.

And if everything goes right with my work situation, I won't have the time for forums and swapping phones all the time and will just need something reliable.

And it's really helpful to be able to get a 6s Plus on AT&T Next. Instead of tossing $800+ on a credit card.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I was in the same situation as the OP but I have decided on the Note 5 because one, I draw (S Pen with ArtFlow is awesome) and the other I use a Bluetooth wireless headset for work and various smartwatches. With the iPhone the notifications don't come through the phone but the headset or watch and not having an apple watch (this was before Android wear became compatible) and not having the ear bud in my ear the whole time, caused me to miss important notifications. That did it for me and my struggle is over. Love the Note 5 and as of right now I am not missing the iPhone one bit.

THIS RIGHT HERE IS WHAT'S UP. . This is my exact scenario every time haha. Well not the adult time with FaceTime but it should be lol.
It is a struggle. I'm struggling between note 5, iPhone 6s plus and nexus 6p (the latter I haven't had the pleasure of messing with but is pre-ordered. Just got the note 5 again for the 2nd time. Thinking of selling it (best buy refuses to let me take it back bc I already have returned 3 devices in a 5 month span. Could try to take it back to another best buy but I do like it but miss iMessage and the apps are better on iOS and then the updates that come straight through. That's where the nexus comes into play. Need all three devices. Ridiculous.

Wait, so you returned the Note 5? I thought you had made it through the return window?

LOL I feel your pain, I've been there. Though my decision was only between my iPhone 6s Plus and the Note 5. I can't imagine if there was a third phone in the mix. In the end I decided that I didn't want to live without iMessage so I returned the Note 5, even though it's a fantastic phone.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I will admit, I saw some posts about the s-pen breaking apart and it bothered me.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

You're both right. Both for my dilemma and my conclusion. I could personally swith easily. I use GMail, Google Drive, One Drive for files, Google Photos for pics and backup and Spotify for music. However my conclusion is to stay with iPhone (for today!) for ecosystem practicalities with the family. Plus, I DO like the Apple Watch and am not quite ready to throw that investment down the drain as well.

However, I do have an iPad Air 2 that I would keep regardless of my phone choice. So I could, in theory, use that device for family sharing and monitoring while still switching phones as frequently as I like. Keeping my addiction hopes alive!

Thanks for your thoughts-

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I'm going to give my Nexus 6P a shot if Google ever sends it to me (pre-ordered day one - which feels like a year ago). If for some reason it doesn't live up to the hype of all of these reviews, I'm gonna take the trek back to Apple. I prefer stock Android to any skin, and don't really want to keep hunting. So it's Nexus 6P or bust!!

You have high expectations for your Nexus.

I've always preferred stock Android. The Nexus 5 is my all time favorite phone. I'm only on a Note 5 right now because the Nexus 6 was just too gigantic and the camera was slow as molasses. Didn't work well with kids. All of these reviews of the 6P make me have a glimmer of hope. Basically saying this is the Android-iPhone.

I mean, I've been on Android primarily for about 3 years. So it's not like I'm just jumping back to try the Nexus.

Do you think its going to be much different?

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

Than your previous Nexus devices.
Well I loved the Nexus 5. I really liked the OS on the Nexus 6, I just didn't like the size or the camera. The camera could take decent shots it was just slow to open and take a picture, which didn't work well with an almost 3 year old. The 6P is supposed to have a MUCH improved camera, superb build quality, and has that clean stock Android interface that I know I like. So, yeah, I think it will have the improvements on my prior Nexus devices that I wanted.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

Thanks. It'd be nice if I could get my grubby little hands on it.
Waiting is always the worst. It's the reason I ended up with a Note 4 last year. I was tired of waiting for my iPhone 6 Plus so I picked up the Note 4.

It sucks. I think that's part of the reason I keep looking at the 6s Plus. I always knew I wasn't keeping the Note 5 as I knew I was either going to the Nexus or iPhone. But after seeing the Nexus I had to order one. It sucks seeing that I ordered it 29 days ago and have nothing yet.
