Note 5 vs iPhone 6s

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I wanted badges on the icons on third party launchers. For instance, with Nova Launcher, you have to buy the premium version of the launcher in order to enable them. Maybe I didn't spend enough time on the Note 5, but the badges even on the stock launcher didn't seem as extensive as iOS.

Other than a badge indicating how many messages you have, what else did you want to see?

The badges didn't seem to be on every app. They seemed to be only on certain apps and not others.

Maybe on a few apps I guess. My Gmail app doesn't have badges on TW Launcher but does on Nova like you said. Nova Prime is worth the money regardless anyways with the extra customization.

Each platform has strengths and weaknesses. I for one love all the notification icons on my status bar and I love the LED notification. No need to keep pressing the home button throughout the day and light up the screen to see if I have missed one.

Yeah I use Nova Prime and it is well worth the paid version.

Personally, I turn off badges.

I use Heads Off app to turn off heads up pop up notifications and keep everything on my status bar. I don't like notifications on my lock screen either, so I have those turned off.

I hate, HATE the pop up notifications that came with Lollipop and no way for us to control that. Marshmallow however, corrects that.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I have both a Galaxy Note 5 and an iPhone 6, I frequently bounce back and forth between the two phones. Now not to get into the whole Android vs iOS or Samsung vs Apple argument both devices have their strong points as well as their weaknesses.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

The iPhone 6s Plus looks like a fantastic phone to me. But after years of being on Android, I'm now as tied into the Android ecosystem as iPhone users are tied into the Apple ecosystem. The smoothest transition from one phone to an upgraded phone will always be to an Android phone for me now. I'm content with that, but I have nothing against Apple phones.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I had to have an iPhone 4s for work after 4 years of Android phones...totally cured any curiosity or desire to ever have an iPhone again...I just couldn't get used to file mgmt and attaching files in email, it was so counterintuitive to me. Recently I thought about an ipad air 2 because I believe that they are well built and a solid device and I don't use a tablet enough to get frustrated with it...until I tried to delete some photos off of my wife's iPhone 6,and had to spend 45 minutes figuring out icloud and photo stream and syncing with iTunes....no way I'm fooling with all that...I went and bought a 1.5 year old note 10.1 2014 tablet to go with my note 4...I've been so happy since...I'll have to get used to the SD card/battery changes on the upcoming notes but I'm already looking at external batteries and external storage choices lol

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I think the difficulty for having one foot in each operating system, for those of us who have it, is clinically a form of OCD. I have it, have called it "evenism" in jest for years. Its a basic resistance to balancing unequal quantities/ qualities. It shows up in mobile technology as android vs apple. I know its absurd, but I too would never want an android phone and an ipad, or vice verses. There is no logic to define it, its just a condition you have to recognize and manage in day to day life :)

This is me exactly.

Yes I knew it as soon as I read your initial post, Your best choice, in lieu of clinical diagnosis & therapy lol, base your choice on your phone, you are loving the Note 5 so hand off the iPad and love the new Galaxy tab, best of luck :)

That's age for ya...

and op honesty...

Probably go for apple and done with it, it's a set it and forget type of phone. I like android but I think if I'm a older guy I'll just go iphone and don't with it.

As a former phone crackhead, even the cost of cases add up.

And facetime is great for family and so forth.

Note 5 is nice but couldn't keep it for 2 years.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

What concerns me with phone batteries in general is longevity over the course of thousands of charge and discharge cycles. It's one of the reasons I didn't want to keep the Note 5 and switched to the 6 plus. Is for the much better battery life. Batteries will wear out over time. I've had cell phone batteries swell and balloon on me. They will eventually not hold as much of a charge. Keeping a phone for two years would concern me about the battery longevity. If I intended on trading it or selling it a year, then not so much.

I don't have to keep it for two years though. I get upgrades every year.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

Do iPhones get malware or viruses from just using the browser and picking the wrong website like Android can?

I don't know, why do more Apple phones get hacked than Android phones?
