Note 5 vs iPhone 6s

Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

iMessage doesn't count as a text message so it doesn't go against your allotment for the month. You can send and sync them across all Apple devices. If you want to, that is. You can also see when someone has received and read the iMessage as well as when they are typing. Similar to facebook messenger. That's provided they have that turned on on their iPhone.

Most carriers have their own messaging services, and if you are texting people also on your carrier, you can see if they are replying or have read your message. These apps are available for your tablets and computers, also. And I am not being funny but does anyone charge for texts anymore?

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I am in the same boat as far as wanting to consolidate. Looking really hard at Note 5. Thinking of selling my 6 plus & Apple Watch (stainless steel Milanese) to help defray the cost.
For me, it feels like android is finally stable & mature enough to use as my full time device.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

imessage is spinach! Practically everyone I message with is on an iPhone. I had an iPhone for several months until I sold it and got the note 5. Then I discovered people who I used to message couldn't see my messages anymore though I could see theirs. Just another arrogant 'feature' courtesy of the Apple people. Had to call my provider to reset things (don't ask me how) so people with iPhones could see me again. And I've read stories where the problem was never fixed for some. Took 24 hours for the fix to take effect.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I'm getting irritated with myself because I keep switching back and forth between the two platforms. I just want to make a decision already and stick with it. Had the iPhone 6S on launch weekend. Nothing wrong with it. Really enjoyed it actually. And it complemented my iPad Air 2 perfectly. But yesterday was day 13 of my 14 day return window and I panicked. Went out and exchanged it for the Note 5. Bought a case, screen protector, and wireless charger. So, I'm all in. Haven't touched my beloved iPad since. Now here is the problem. When I use the note, I don't want to use any complementary devices. After a while, I miss my iPad and I want to switch back, but I need the iPhone to go with it. I have been doing this for years. And it's making me feel quite ridiculous. But I can't choose. And I don't know why.

I've heard others say they need their iOS phone to use their iPad. Genuinely curious, why do you need the phone to use the tablet? Again, genuinely curious not trying to be an a$$. Thanks.

It's not that I "need" the iPad to use the phone, it's that the iPad is a better iOS product than the iPhone. So, if I'm going to have an iOS device, I want the iPad. Android is the complete opposite for me. The smartphones or "phablets" are really standalone devices and superior to their tablet counterparts. That's the best explanation I can give.

Speaking of wasting money on accessories, I'm not buying anymore screen protectors. They are just a waste of money for me. I just took mine off. Lasted 2 months. Was supposed to be self-healing. Not so much. Phone looks and feels better without the screen protector. I never needed a screen protector, however I have always wasted money on one and have always had to take it off. And I have never cracked or had any damage to my screen.

At work I use imac and iPad mini.. Phone is a Android..my home computers and all my training is in windows... Honestly with apps like drop box, Google drive, pushbullet and everything being webased its fairy smooth for me. Though its hard to do "real work" with ios. With no file manager. That's where the Android phone comes to the rescue.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

Hello everyone,Hello Android!

It's great for me joining this community site,I'm totally new here!
I am a brand new user of a Samsung Galaxy S6 32GB GoldPlatinum device, just bought and received it and it's really awesome, looks great, feels really comfortable for me and perfectly fits in hand!Really a premium category,as for its form and look. It's really premium,so i am very excited about it! Now,to tell the truth, this is my first ever smartphone! I mean, ever!I've never ever had or handled one before! I've never used or handled any of them before and would have some important questions I wanna ask and get to know as a starter, cause I'm an absolute beginner.Firstly,I'd like to ask a couple of things about its charging! Erasat or anyone here,if any of you are here and can help with some useful advice,I'd like to get to know about the approx. first charging time and ask you first how many hours I do have to charge it for the first and second time after unpacking and switching it on. Btw,I've read the useful infos about the first steps of main Android settings and your posts were very helpful.I hope I'll find the answers to my questions here and am waiting for your reply, thanks!
Cheers!

So, if you have both an iphone and another apple device like an ipad or a mac you can take calls on that other device when your phone is in close proximity even if that other device is wifi only. For example when I'm working on my macbook and a call comes in, I simply take the call on the macbook. Same for the ipad.

Additionally with iMessage I can read and respond from any other Apple device if I have text forwarding turned on in my phone settings.

It's features like these that keep me bouncing back and forth just like the rest of you. lol :)
My one wish is that Android devices have a similar seamless connectivity built right in.

About the closest thing that I can think of is Blend for BlackBerry, but even as good as that is, it's not really "seamless".

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

So,here are some of my questions: how do you get around getting everyone on iPhones (most of my family and friends) to see your texts and receive theirs and group texts specifically on Android? This is one of the main reasons I sold my Nexus 6p and went back to the 6s plus. Also, can I use the same sim in two different phones? I'd consider getting an Android to switch back and forth from, but I'll probably wait to see what the new Note 6 will be like or even the LG v11, or whatever it is to switch back if I do. This 6s plus is pretty sweet.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I still can't make a decision. I have owned almost every major Android phone, but somehow always have an Apple device near by. I genuinely like both platforms and see the pros and cons of both. Someday I will make a decision. Until then, I will just continue to use this thread as a support group.

OMG - replace NOTE 5 with NEXUS 6P and I am there too. Been doing it for quite some time. Love my iOS devices, but really like ANDROID too. I think the Nexus 6P is a really nice device but torn between that and my 6S Plus. I feel your pain!

If you are happy using both platforms, then there really isn't a reason for you to make a decision to use one over the other. Trying to switch between the two and buying more phones and accessories was problematic for me. I found that once I made a choice and committed fully to my choice, I was happier.

I think the Nexus and the iPhone are very similar in a lot of ways. This year will be the first that I haven't owned a Nexus.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

In what ways do you think they are similar??

I believe the feature sets are pretty close. Ease of use, pure operating system experience (no bloatware), quick updates, and all around fluid experience.
