Note 5 vs iPhone 6s

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I've been a BB fan since the 9900's and got my Priv on launch day. Still have a Classic and SE Passport around here somewhere?

The Priv is a nice device but I had a few issues:

The physical keyboard was small and didn't feel like the classic KB that I grew to love. I'd always use the virtual KB and I absolutely hated it. The flick up and punctuation was horrible. I did have cool sounds for opening and closing the KB!

The battery was horrible and the phone would get warm when working. I know this was due to updates and bugs. It eventually got better by me turning everything off and using the phone as little as possible. Not good.

After a week of use, the back cover got very flimsy and felt very cheap to me.

Overall, I just wasn't happy with the Priv. I really wanted the Priv to be a keeper but it wasn't. I'm hoping either the Vienna or Passport SE running Android will be the answer for me?

With all that being said, the Note 5 blows away the Priv in every way! The screen is better, better battery life, S-pen, way better KB, better build quality, and way more accessories available for Samsung.

Folks-

Trolling is bad. Insulting people is bad. There are warnings all over this section; give it a rest.

That said, if you jump the shark and dive into sexism, racism or other discriminatory, childish derping - that's the type of thing that earns a giant banhammer to the face. Everyone's not doing that, thanks for being cool and have a nice Monday.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I wouldn't say the Priv leaves the competition behind at all. From my perspective, it only offers a physical keyboard that really differentiates itself from the pack. Well, my Note 5 does that with the s-pen. As far as BlackBerry services, I'm still not understanding how the Hub is any different from the notification shade or the info you get on widgets. Then when I go down the list of features, the Priv comes up short. Note 5 screen is bigger and better, cameras are better, octa-core compared hexa-core processors, 4GB of RAM compared to 3GB of RAM, wireless changing, heart rate monitor, a suite of Samsung software features, and Samsung Pay. Just sayin.

I wouldn't even put the Priv in the top 10 devices available category. I'm a Nexus fan apparently, but Note 5 is a monster device that checks every box except software and physical design for me (mostly because of buttons on the front, I'll get over it). The Priv looks good on paper, for specs, but as Samsung has started to figure out and Moto figured out a few years ago - there's a lot more to the game than just specs.

As this is also the Note 5 vs iPhone 6s Plus thread... I'd also put the 6s Plus ahead of the Priv. By a lot.

I agree.

I have a N5 and my wife traded in her N4 for a 6S+. We both use Google services extensively and connect our phones to corporate accounts as well.

When I look at the overall experience and what can be accomplished by each phone they are nearly the same. They both have all of the needed Google apps, they both connect to our work accounts, they are both fast, smooth, and easy to use. They both take great photos and serve as a super fast hot spot when we need it.

I don't use the SPEN and she does not use the 3D touch. I like Samsung Pay but they don't support our primary cash back card so no dice there and she likes Apple Pay but very few POSs have NFC so no dice there either.

It is hard to think of a single material advantage in terms of function that one has other the other.

I'm one of the people who keeps trying to love iPhones, but eventually goes back to Android after a couple months. I really enjoy tinkering with my devices, so I was jailbreaking the iphones in order to make them function just the way I like. When I'm using Android I can easily tailor the device to be exactly what I need without all the hassle of jailbreaking.
iMessage is great for sending messages to other IOS users, but not sending to Android devices. My wife now uses the Infinit app to send uncompressed pictures and videos to me now that I'm rocking the Note 5.
Better standby battery life hands down goes to the iPhone 6S+, but the battery life when using the device constantly gives a slight edge to the Note5. Screen is leaps and bounds better on the Note5, and has a better screen to body ratio. Multitasking goes to the Note5. A tie with the speakers for both. SamsungPay is definitely better than ApplePay
There's ways around all the nuances I have with the iPhone 6S+, but I ultimately enjoy my Note 5 more. To say one is better than the other is difficult, because they are so similar in many aspects and so different in others. Personally I love both phones, but in my opinion the Note 5 has a slight edge over the iPhone 6S+ in more than a few aspects.

I do agree that saying one device is definitively better than the other is difficult. Looking at specifications you may be able to make that claim in favor of the Note 5, but user experience is a whole other thing. There are still a lot of features of the iPhone and iOS that I really enjoy. The Note 5 and Android ultimately just do it for me.

So you're saying that you DO care about iPhone? If you didn't care at all, you'd say "I couldn't care less..." but you are saying you "could care less" which means that you actually do care. Interesting. Makes sense, considering the ridiculous generalization you made about the iPhone. I am no fan of Apple. I think they are overpriced and not very innovative these days, but they are most definitely not just for "teens and hipsters in their 20s", otherwise only teens and hipsters would own them. That is clearly not the case.

Who copied? IPhone 6 looks just like the metal version of the Samsung ativ x, Yet ppl try to claim the galaxy s6 looks like a iPhone 6 lol. Your iPhone notification? thanks Android, new iPhone sizes? Thanks Samsung, 1 hand mode? thanks Samsung, widget? thanks Android. To name a few

Whoa, that ATIV is actually really nice looking. Though I can hear the "YOU COPIED APPLE" from a mile away, that's a look I'd like to see come back.

Thats a fair assessment

What's w the priv that's the one phone I haven't considered!
Note 5 .. Nexus 6p... iPhone 6s Plus those are the ones and I have a lgg4 (husband) i play w but prefer Iphone over it... The lgv10 looks amazing too...

Interesting experiment. If you charge the iPhone with an iPad charger it charges at the same rate the Note 5 does with the fast charger.

So...my smartphone addiction. Just ran over me like a truck. Ditched the Note 5 for the iPhone 6S Plus and purchased an iPad Pro 128GB w/LTE. Not a good way to go into the new year. SMH.

I've been thinking of buying a used 2014 Moto X for $200 on swappa just to play around with and switch back and forth between my 6 plus.

Haha I understand the addition well. I gave up the Note5 and got the 6S Plus, a Nexus 6p, and a MXPE.

Bought my dad an iPad Air 2 for his bday and have been trying to justify an iPad Pro purchase for myself for most of December lol. But alas, I still can't seem to find a consistent use case to own a tablet. Boo...

Congrats on your new toys
