Note 8 burn in with prolonged VR usage?

Hey everyone,

First post on these here forums,

After much research and deliberation i finally decided to upgrade to a Note 8. The device is phenomenal and I couldn't be happier so far with my choice.

The AMOLED infinity display is absolutely stunning. The only thing that worries me is the possibility of burn in further down the line. I know it will eventually happen at some point as with all OLEDs, and the note 8 has competitively fewer reports so far than the other current flagships such as the pixel.

Although I don't mind a bit of background bar or notification panel burn in, what mostly worries me is burn in from extensive VR use with the gear headset. I noticed the borders on the images in VR mode seem static. Has anyone so far expirenced burn in with VR image patterns (the fields displayed one for each eye)? And if so what kind of usage have you been using.

Have been considering getting a dedicated VR headset like oculus to avoid the issue, however I've so far been able to find relatively little information on this type of burn in online.

Thanks in advance

I upgraded from a N3 to the N8. I never had burn in with the N3 and don't expect any with my N8. If you keep your brightness turned down to 50 % or less, you should never have to worry. In addition, you you'll get much better battery life.

I don't think you need to worry about burn in using VR as you don't have the same image in the same spot for prolonged periods of time, same as aod shifts around really

I don’t use my note 8 for VR. However, I currently have wicked burn in from the Waze Navigation App. In the near future I will be calling Verizon and or Samsung.

Thank you for your responses.

Indeed the images inside the image move around, however I'm not sure if the borders of each eyes display do. Would the fact that they change colours be sufficient to stop burn in? or would the contrast in pixel activity (compared to the constant black around it) wear them down differentially anyway?

Any heavy gear VR users have any expirence with this? Anysight into this would be much appreciated

My Note 8 fits in my 2017 VR. It's pretty snug but it fits. I use the VR quite often but not for long periods at a time. Maybe like an hour tops. Haven't seen any issues yet.
