Note 8 fell face down. Screen shattered.

I had a solid case on. Again face done on concrete. These type of surfaces are not smooth, I have a raised lip on my case. Screen got toasted.

Here is my case.

Oh I see you posted a link to the case.

Yeah, sometimes the drop is just too much.

I have an Incipio case that is matte and rubbery on my N8, hopefully it holds up.

For folks asking, yes I bought the phone full price from Samsung site itself. It's an ATT varient with no insurance.

I stopped at a local repair shop today and the guy said they don't have the right parts yet but when they do, it's going to cost at least $500 to fix. WTF

So I called Samsung and started the repair process. I have the shipping label and it's going of to them to fix. I have dbrand skin on the back, so if they ended up sending me a new one, I will now :)

I'll come back and update this thread when it's sent back to me.

And here is the case I had one for people who are asking again

Hopefully they won't take too terribly long. Best of luck:)

do you have a link to that case? or the name? thanks.
Yep, here it is:

I got it in Black as my phone is black, but the case is more of a dark grey.

EDIT:

Seems we aren't allowed to post a link to their cases, here's mine

I've read the Whitestone Dome glass covers will fill in cracks and make them all but disappear. Not sure if it would work on a "shattered" screen though. But for $50 it might be worth a try. But not sure if that would void them reworking it but I wouldn't think so since they would have to pull the whole screen anyway.

I bet you beg to differ.

Sorry for your loss...
Not really, as I mentioned before, the way the phone landed straight on its face on uneven surface makes no case available to save it. It's that simple. I have no regrets, it's just a bad drop. 1st time to break a screen and I have had many smart phones.

Here we go. Viewer discretion is advised LOL

Amazingly, this dropped at 9 AM this morning and I've been using the phone since then. Still works flawlessly, just trying not to get glass under my finger skin. What a day.

Ugh. I don't see Whitestone adhesive fixing those 'scratches' (more like shatters!).

Yep, happend this morning. Phone still works but now my screen is all taped up to prevent fingers from getting glass cuts.

I have no insurance and 1st time to ever break a phone. My luck.

I called samsung and they can replace the screen for $293 if I send it in. Obviously this is cheaper than having to buy another one but I want to hear people's experience on this forum with Samsung repairs. Is this a good option and would the phone be back as it was new. Does samsung do quality screen replacements? Would appreciate sharing your experience with me. Thanks!

If Samsung only wants $293 that is really cheap but I would check with UBreakWeFix first, I shattered my lens cover last year (on 2nd day) on my LGV20 and LG wanted $175 and I ended up waiting and UBreakWeFix only charged me $60 bucks....

And they only take about an hour to fix it......Even screens....

No case would have protected this fall. I'll send pictures when I get home. I am going to send it in to Samsung. Don't have any other choice.
A wallet case would have protected it. It's all I use with my phones. It might be inconvenient for some but I like the protection.

Ouch. My heart hurt looking at that. I think I would have cried if it happened to me 😟😭😵 So sorry it happened! Hopefully they get it fixed fast or they send you a new one. It's so painful to see the Note8 shattered like that 😟😟😟

Uneven concrete? Sounds like a trip hazard... Maybe you tripped and fell and shattered your phone in the process. Call one of those ambulance chasing lawyers.... Could have a solid case on your hands. Ha

Hahaha, life is too short to blame others for breaking my phone. Life is not perfect, I'm pretty sure there are a lot worse things that can happen to a person than shattering a phone screen. I will take phone drops every day and twice on Sunday if that's the worst that can happen to me ;)

Very few surfaces are perfectly smooth. One tiny little pebble on a smooth concrete surface will shatter your screen if the screen falls face-first. That's what happened to this person and it actually has happened to me in the past as well even with an OtterBox Defender.

A wallet case would have protected it. It's all I use with my phones. It might be inconvenient for some but I like the protection.

No case is a 100% guarantee to save your phone. Even wallet cases can't keep these display from breaking because when a phone falls many times the wallets swing open. Plus they are a super pain in the butt in day-to-day use.

Damn man, sorry. That is my worst nightmare. I use a rugged case and I have insurance just in case.

As far as insurance, that is an absolute rip-off because the deductibles practically are the same amount as getting a screen replacement from the manufacturer which in many cases just send you a replacement phone that is refurbished or even brand new. That's not even taking into account the monthly premium on the rip-off insurance. For this type of issue it's best to be self-insured. Set aside your monthly premium/policy price for yourself and when the inevitable happens just pay for the repairs.

See, ANY case would have had that same effect. Outside of having it in a wallet case, there's nothing you could have done differently.
The upside with our edges is we love that edge.
The downside with our edges is that they leave the phone completely vulnerable to a face plant like that. If it falls ON a case bumper, it'll be fine usually.
But when these guys fall and they hit on an exposed edge, like it looks like that one did, then there is zero that we could have done differently.
Sorry bud.
But it could happen to any of us.

My daughter has an S7, she dropped and cracked the screen. Took it to the Sprint store and they have Samsung rep there, claimed since it was still within the year warranty they would fix it for 200. Took an hour.

Me I have Squaretrade, 99 dollar deductible.
