I currently have a Note 8 but am considering a V30.. I had the V10 and loved it, had the G6 and loved that but I'm feeling like the Note 8 is to fragile and might break and the V30 seems more durable. I want your opinions

The price difference is something to consider. It's basically, are you willing to pay for the S Pen or not? If you won't be using the S Pen, why spend an additional 200?

I sent my note 8 back for the v30. The Note 8 was a pain to deal with from the curved glass to the extremely tall screen. The v30 is much more manageable. I love the wide angle camera. This is my second day but early indication seems like the battery may be slightly better than the note. Phone calls seem much louder and clearer too. The Note seems to have a more consistent camera for quick snap shots. The Note is a great device, just not for me this year.

If you don't use the pen that often, then your choices are pretty much the V30, and I'll even toss in the S8+.

Huh there both made out of glass so that's a wash the note 8 has more features an the s pen, as far as price most carriers have a $300 trade in program so actually the note is cheaper . An if you already own the note 8 I don't see the point . Pound for pound the n8 is the better Phone. You guys need to stop chasing brands obviously you wanted to n8 are else you wouldn't have bought it the v30 is not a upgrade

Not sure what your saying the fact is he already owns the note 8 . To get the v30 makes zero sence an he d loose money on that deal . Plus the n8 is the better feature rich phone ......keep the note is the answer. Most buy there phone on payment so you'll pay $5 more a month for the note 8 haha I rather pay the $5

Do you want Spen or not, do you use Samsung pay or not? If you answered no for both, not sure why you bought a note 8 to start with :)

Why would it make 0 sense ? And what better features does the note 8 have over the v30 ?

If u with t mobile jump on demand or a plan like that I would just say order the v30 over the phone have them send it to u and you try the phone out self for a week if during the week you find your self not picking up your note 8 at all or thinking about it there's your answer because if u don't want to v30 u can just send it back and still have your note 8 right there .... I wouldn't go by what other ppl say because 9 times out of 10 just like alot of ppl talk about ( isheep) there most definitely alot of strong core Samsung Knight's that think they do no wrong no matter how much there phones slow down or do radom stuff every year ... Just try it your self best option

The Note screen has more exposed curves which may be the weak points on the glass and it's a weighty phone so that doesn't help. The V30 touts being designed to take falls better with the panels purposely notched at the corners, etc. But at the end of the day they are both glass phones so both will be fragile.

For me having my Neo Hybrid case on the phone feels much more 'solid' than if holding naked so a good case may help with that fragile 'feeling.'

All depends what's important to you... S-Pen or Wide angle lens and Quad-DAC of the V30, the larger screen on Note or maybe the V30 overall size and perfectly placed FPS/ergonomics may be better for you. If you're a camera guy, the wide angle lens may win many over.

If you already have the Note 8 and if it hasn't WOWed you to considering the V30 and have the means to switch so soon then why not. For me I am happy enough with the Note that I'm done for the year... or two... or three. I don't think you can go wrong with either.

The pen, obviously, but these threads are pointless. He should go look at the V30 and decide for himself. Everyone has different priorities, and every phone will have its own set of strengths and weaknesses. Only he can decide which set of features is most important to him.

The V30 has slower performance over the Note 8 already tested. Also, it doesn't have near the features Samsung does. Like Bixby, Spen, Samsung Pay, Live Photo, not as good of a screen, and so on. It doesn't even come with headphones in the US wireless provider versions. LOL.

Holy crap. Does that mean you upgraded me from the isheep into a Samsung knight? I am moving on up baby! :D

Dropped my V30 yesterday... (Nooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)... then was relieved to see nothing happened. LOL. It was a wood floor though. It does seem well built though... and the real issue, light enough in weight not to damage itself with some types of drops.

Dial up some youtube videos on the drop tests. Fairly impressive.

Just to let you know I got this on an upgrade plan from the Note 5 and I have not even made a single payment on it yet. The reason I got this was because I loved my Note 5. That phone was almost perfect in size, performance, overall features and at the time and still has a great camera. So in upgrading I thought I would have no issues with the Note 8.
The long and short is I decided to get this phone because of my love for the Note line. But I really struggle with feeling like I'm going to break this phone if it drops. I haven't fallen in love with the edge screen and it's a hand acrobatic moment everything I want to do anything.
Don't get me wrong this phones performance overall is amazing and the screen looks amazing, but the V30 like many have said has a more durable form factor and has a smaller form overall. I don't feel like it's a downgrade from the Note to the V30 but it's a consideration.

Get the V30.

Cheers!

Or get a protective case and the Whitestone Dome glass screen protector. Depends really on if you want the Note 8 or not.
