Note 8 Oreo Update

Re: AT&T Oreo Update just came in

It was a very smooth upgrade indeed. However, it IS 2018, shouldn't we expect as much? JK, I am grateful and I'm happy my phone didn't get borked. I wiped the system cache afterwards, 'cause, why not?
You are TOTALLY correct but I also see after your "JK" that you also know exactly what I mean, as well! I wiped system cache as well.. best way to clean up the junk from the update!

It's supported on Oreo, but only if the OEM'S want to use it. From everything I have read, only Google phones and a few Chinese manufacturers are currently using project Treble Samsung, LG, Motorola, etc. are not.

Can you provide links to what you read? I see this -

"Google said last year that all devices shipping with Android 8.0 Oreo will support Project Treble out of the box. We have now confirmed that the GalaxyS9 Project Treble support is indeed present from the word go. This means that the GalaxyS9 will hopefully receive Android updates faster."

In a sense, we're both right. I was only referring to the Note8 since this is a Note8 thread. I never mentioned anything about the S9 because it doesn't concern me. You are correct in that phones launching with Oreo will support project Treble out of the box. This will benefit me when the Note9 comes out.

I didn't see anyone mention if the AR Emoji was included in the Note8 Oreo update. Did they leave this feature off to have something exclusive to the S9?

It is not included in ANY of the leaked versions, so I doubt that it will be in the official release.

Had some issues with weather location updating , a few apps taking several seconds to open (Chase) but this seems to have resolved itself after a restart

After the AT&T N8 Oreo update the badge notifications are so buggy I had to resort to using Nova Launcher. Haven't had to use a third party launcher in a long time but Samsung didn't do a good job with their Oreo launcher. It's the same way on the S9+.

What issues were you having, exactly? I'm not seeing issues with my flashed VZW N8.

Anyone having issues with Edge Lighting? All of my settings are the same and it seems to only work with the stock messenger.

One Example is Facebook. Notifications are just hit or miss. It's say I have one new notification but when I open the app there are like 5. Just very inconsistent. Happens on other apps as well. Everything is working flawlessly with Nova Prime.

I don't use the FB App - I still get FB on my browser and don't get notifications. I do get FB Messenger Notifications as well as Text Msg and email and they all seem to be working fine so far. Number of messages correspond to what are there when I open the apps?

My overnight, standby battery life dropped (performance mode) - not sure if it has to re-learn anything for a few days or what but I usually have 95-96% when I get up in the morning. It was 93% this morning with nothing changed... I'll give it a several days and watch it - see what happens. I used to run "Mid" Battery Saving Saving Mode until someone told me that "Performance" actually saved more battery and he was right. Been there ever since - maybe I'll switch back if it doesn't improve and see if that helps. I did a "Wipe System Cache" yesterday after I updated all my apps too, to clear things out!

To be honest I don't think my battery was any better on performance so I put it back to mid power saving, unless I need full power, it's staying there.
