Check your settings under More networks. It may be different in the Note 8 settings. I'm using a Note 4. Make sure you have LTE/GSM/UMTS set and not Global or LTE/CDMA by some chance. Or this has nothing to do with it and I'm talking out my a**.
LTE/CDMA is the recommended setting for Verizon. I also personally reviewed and confirmed this with the head systems engineer from VZ here in Denver. We did a check on the neighboring towers driving around in his specialized antenna and computer filled vehicle and you could see the strength of signal increase with the LTE/CDMA setting.
I think the OP is referring to the data signal. The Note 7 as example was pretty weak.Verizon has been ok so far. It connects to my wifi soso but it's weak, it connects fine to the stronger wifi at my daughter's.
I realized that after I posted it, but the data signal with Verizon has been pretty good, too. My first Note 7 was great, the second not so much, and the Pixel hardly ever connected properly to data. My Note 8 is doing ok.I think the OP is referring to the data signal. The Note 7 as example was pretty weak.
I've had about 2 to 3 bars occasionally 1. But no one ever complained that I was breaking up. Everyone I talked to yesterday complained I was breaking up.
